leaving the church

Some would say that to leave a religion you must "convert" to another. However, you cannot convert to Deism any more than you can convert to Atheism, since there is no central authority on membership. So, I never officially "left" the Christian religion, I simply "stopped going" to church. Though I was told that they will no longer consider someone a member if they do not attend for an entire year, it has now been several years since I last attended and I still get their monthly mailer. However, the pastor said to me once that they consider me to be "extended family." So, I could just be an exception if not simply overlooked in the purging process. I doubt that it is a case of propaganda, since the mailer is informative to members and not much of an advertisement.

According to some people, I still have to go to the Christian Heaven, because I accepted Jesus into my heart and was Baptised, which means that I'm forgiven for my sins. I think that is wierd. I think God would be rather pissed off, just like all my old Christian friends were (who no longer speak to me for abandoning the faith... thankfully I've gained some new christian friends that are much more open-minded).

If the Christian Heaven is the only one that exists, you won't have much choice, will you :biglaugh: .
