Are you serious? It's Moroni.Aqualung said:Why do all the temples have a guy playing a horn on them?
You're a riot! With everything you know about the Church, you didn't know that? I don't know why he's playing a horn. Maybe angels do that... you know, to announce something really wonderful -- like the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. :jiggy:Aqualung said:Oh it is?! That's sort of embarrassing. Why is he playing a horn, though?
Gosh. I'm ashamed. While we're at it, though, why do they always have that portrait of that random guy, who's like from the 1800s, in the Books of Mormon?!Katzpur said:You're a riot! Huh? Now you're playing with my head, aren't you?Aqualung said:Gosh. I'm ashamed. While we're at it, though, why do they always have that portrait of that random guy, who's like from the 1800s, in the Books of Mormon?!
Yeah, don't worry. I was just making a comparison. That thing about the statue was almost as dumb as that fake question. I'm kind of dumb, sometimes, and I try to mask that with jokes.Katzpur said:Huh? Now you're playing with my head, aren't you?
It was only funny because I just finished posting a PM to our newest LDS forum member, "Beckysoup61." I told her the names of all the LDS posters on the forum and mentioned that you were the only other female member besides me. I told her you're a recent convert, but that you are SO knowledgable about the Church! And then you came up with that question. :biglaugh:Aqualung said:Yeah, don't worry. That is awesome!!! You made me laugh so hard!! Shame on you! :biglaugh: :biglaugh:Katzpur said:It was only funny because I just finished posting a PM to our newest LDS forum member, "Beckysoup61." Oh, so you're the culprit! Just FYI... cherubs are naked baby angels who shoot arrows into people's hearts to make them fall in love. Moroni is a fully-clothed male angel -- like Gabriel.SnaleSpace said:Thanks Katz, I was the troublesome bandit who wondered about the horn playing cherub .
Man? then I'm glad he's fully clothedKatzpur said:Oh, so you're the culprit! Just FYI... cherubs are naked baby angels who shoot arrows into people's hearts to make them fall in love. Moroni is a fully-clothed man.
Wow! I never thought this question would take such a serious turn. I think SoyLeche's right.SoyLeche said:Short answer - it is representative of the angels mentioned in Revelation - specifically the one that is "flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel" - I'm paraphrasing because it is late and I have to go to bed. Also, I think some of the angels mentioned there have horns.
That's as good as I can do tonight
So then it's still Moroni, right?Katzpur said:My commentary on Revelation says that the sounding of the trumpet is the preparing and finishing of God's work... the preparing of the way before the time of Christ's coming. (See D&C 77:12)
Moroni came bringing the Everlasting Gospel, so yes, it is Moroni. We believe that the coming of Moroni fulfilled that part of Revelation, at least in part. The statue on the top is Moroni.Aqualung said:So then it's still Moroni, right?
Yeah, and the hardest to understand, with the possible exception of Isaiah.SnaleSpace said:Revelation sure is the most interesting book of the bible.
I think Matthew is pretty hard. :biglaugh: Just kidding.Katzpur said:Yeah, and the hardest to understand, with the possible exception of Isaiah.
