meh...
Maybe it's already been pointed out, I haven't taken the time to read this monster, but the poll question is very misleading. I answered no to the question "Do you believe it is wrong to celebrate Christmas or Christ Mass?" before I read the rest of the answers and realized that by answering "No" I was really saying "yes".

Christmas, or Yule, is the most widely celebrated heathen holiday, so I'm glad to see Christians, Heathens and non-Christians of every sort celebrating our traditions. I don't even mind the changes that have been made with regard to its' association with Jesus Christ. All the meaningful parts of the tradition (the decorating of the home and of the tree, the celebration with family and the giving of gifts) are still present.

My family tends not to spend much on gifts. We get together, eat dinner, and enjoy spending time with eachother. Im sure theres more families like that.
The commercializing of Christmas I am against. Especially the "Day after Thanksgiving" sales. Those are evil. I almost got hit several times in a Best Buy parking lot doing only 5 MPH. That is the only thing evil about Christmas.
I think gifts should be something the person needs, or something they will be gratefull for. What is wrong with getting stuff like that for your friends and loved ones on Christmas?

The giving of gifts is supposed to be fun. There shouldn't be any rules. Just get someone stuff they might like or need. I don't think holiday shopping is evil. I think it's fun! And I used to work retail! So I know all about Black Friday! :)

ok, ive not read through this thread, so i appologise if my points have already been raised

jesus was not born on the 25th of december, the early church lived with a largly pagan population, so they put the celebration of christs birth on a pagan holiday that was already celebrated

santa is a story, based upon an actual person called nicholas, who on this holiday, gave gifts to the children in local orphinage's

ok, christmas has become very comercialised, and i hate that, but the best gift for me on christmas is to sit down with a cup of coffee and my family, and to just share our love for eachother - we express our love in different ways, we sing and laugh, and we exchange gifts, because we know that giving our family members gifts will make them happy! and on this day in particular, i want to see my family unified and happy

ok, i always want my family to be happy, but christmas can also be a time of healing for families aswell, a fresh year, a fresh start from last eyars hardship and family struggle

quite simply, i enjoy christmas, and i will continue to do so - anyone who does not share my enjoyment of it, dont do it - simple as :)

edit:
a link for the story behind St nick
http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=38

and also, the original "colour" that was associated with santa was green, not red - it was "coca cola" who asked it be changed to red for their marketing, in exchange for ......... cash, i believe it was ;)

Santa is not God and the father of the messiah Jesus. So who is he anyway???? Since he's not from the scriptures he must be an invention from Satan's earthly organization whom the book of Revelation states is "misleading the entire inhabited earth".Bells for angels? Where is that in the scriptures??? Pine tree with ornaments on it. Yup the apostles and the disciples did that but I don't remember seeing it in the LXX, Septuagint or in aramaic. Yule log, wrapping paper, mistle toe, stockings, etc. Yup, Jesus told his disciples all this in the upper chamber on the night of the passover. We shouldn't lie to our children and ourselves just because someone else says so. We should look to the scriptures for the answers. Jesus never said to celebrate his birth. Jesus told his apostles to keep eating the unleavened bread and drinking the wine in rememberance of his death and not his birth on the night of Nisan 14. He, Jesus, didn't lay out the details for "Christmas". The word, "Christmas" isn't written in the Bible or any other source of the period when Christians of the period walked the earth.

Jehovah's Witnesses think Satan moved the star that appeared to the Magi astrologers so they must be correct right? No way! How can Satan have managed to move an object out in space??? Nope, the star was a sign from God most definitely. Check out the book: The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived. (published by Jehovah's Witnesses)

But Christmas is the work of the Devil. December 24 and 25 line up with only one religious organization, Catholics and not with the holy scriptures.

The apostle Peter is proven not to be the first Pope by the deed Jesus performed to his mother-in-law, curing her of her sickness, so the Catholics must be wrong with their "Christ Mass" celebration if they are incorrect about the first Pope.

Douay-Rheims
(Matthew 8:14)
And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother lying, and sick of a fever:

(Matthew 8:15)
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose and ministered to them.

I don't remember Jesus telling anyone the details about Christmas. The word, Christmas, doesn't even appear in any of the English translations of the holy scriptures so that can't be it. And what about those reindeer? Or visiting every Christian household in one night to bring gifts like the Magi did for Joseph and Mary because it was a custom back then?! No, no, no. Celebrating a holiday that Jesus never said to do so and one that doesn't appear any where in the scriptures at all is ludicrous. Just makes money for someone else who doesn't believe in our heavenly father God and his only begotten son, Jesus.

Makes Christians look like idiots. Listening to people instead of the scriptures we say we read and obey. Christmas should be outlawed. Give gifts because you can. Don't do it because someone says the son of God would have like to have it done. The only begotten son of God already said his peace. Celebrate his death. Believe the scriptures and not the contrivance of men.
I believe this is the most trivial, nonsensical and ridiculous accusation I have ever heard.

The celebration of a Holy Day coming from the "devil"?????? ROTFLMAO.

Of course, I do not believe God has partners, or equals so the concept of a plotting and conniving "Satan" is pretty much a no-brainer with me. Its a ridiculous assumption.

Manichaeanism is not for serious thinkers.

Scott
