Perry's 3-point plan to deal with Texas drought

Texas is in the midst of its worst drought since 1895. So what is Rick Perry doing? Like any good leader, he has it he's got a three-point plan: 1. Deny that global warming is an issue. 2. Dramatically reduce spending on volunteer fire departments in the state. 3. Pray. A lot.

There's an old saying popular among those who champion the so-called Protestant work ethic: "God helps those who help themselves." But Rick Perry probably shouldn't pay any attention to that. It appears that the saying originated in ancient Greece with the proverb, "Along with Athena, move also your hand." That wouldn't work for Perry. Athena is, after all, a Pagan goddess.

Don't forget requesting federal assistance with fighting the fire. (BTW I dont think there is anything wrong with asking for assistance but it is contrary to the standard republican stance)

Perry has been backwards like this in the past - refusing federal money that challenges the Republican party line like education and healthcare - and then demanding federal funds for natural disasters.
