Earthquake

Just felt medium-small earthquake in Northern Virginia. Anyone else feel it?

Unusual around here - haven't felt an earthquake since living in Nevada.

Felt it here, about two hours south of Raleigh.

I thought it was the usual artillery stuff until the mechanical room kept shaking.

So weird! We're in Raleigh and were having lunch at my parents house with my mom and didn't feel a thing. My dad called from Garner asking if we'd felt that. The whole school had been shaking. Seems like almost everyone I know around here felt something but us! :( My parents house must have a really good foundation lol They did just have it completely gutted and remodeled though :) I have friends in PA, Michigan, & NY that said they felt something.

I have to admit, I'm slightly disappointed that we didn't :(

Yep... central Jersey here. I thought it was my cubicle neighbor at work shaking his desk. I was trying to eat lunch and was about to curse him out. :D Then I realized that he's not that strong to make the windows shake and blinds rattle, and it was a quake.

I was at a job in Greensboro and the cabinet doors started rattling and both Dad and I felt a little bit of motion in the ground. We looked at each other wondering if an old furnace or something was kicking on, but after a moment we realized it was a quake.

Had a friend wake me up. I work nights. I live in Pennsylvania. She wanted to know if the house was still standing!
Funny--the TV was playing 2012! So had I felt it I probably thought it was part of the movie!

Being in california...you guys now know what we get quite often. What's really scarey is when you stand there holding on to the strongest door frame and actually see the walls curve in and out, like ripples.

Baja California had one also, a 6.0 this morning.

Disturbing... 3 quakes about the same magnitude at different areas of the continent.

I've been dreaming about earthquakes ever since I moved here. I'm getting nervous now. I'm sitting on the intersection of three tectonic plates.

You're probably the safest. Think lord of the rings, the ending. Everything collapsed except where Aragorn and his army stood.

Ironically, after the uni library closed last night I spent an hour in the parking lot talking with a grad student who's got the inside track to research on an experimental seismic detection technology.

Out of courtesy I can't go into too much detail, but it does look like there's a good chance that seismologists will be able to predict earthquakes well in advance in the near future.

You're impressed and you know it.

I look around and said" The whole building, I think it's an earthquake" He said" ok, let's get this out...1..2..3 (snatches tooth), Now let's get out of the building. We get little drunk nitrous girl up and walk her wobbly little arse on out. Too funny.
