Hi, First timer here...

Hello y'all. This is my very first time ever using a forum. I am 35 years old and I have a 18 yr. old son who is a "computer nerd". I have seen him on different forums many times(and now that he has just moved out and I now have my own system), I thought that I would try a forum and so here I am. This is all very new to me, but I look forward to learning how to navigate and get to know ya.
Much Love,

Hi, Shell Shell.
Well, let me be the first to welcome you. Please tell us a little bit about your interests so that we can get to know you better, and then jump right in to one of the forums and get your feel wet.

Hello, and welcome, Shell Shell! So glad to have you here! (I love your name! Is it a nickname for Shelly?)

Forum environments can sometimes be a bit intimidating, especially if you're new to them. Please know that you can ask me questions at any time, either in a post or by private-messaging me. (You can do the second by clicking on a person's name with your mouse and scrolling down to the "Send a Private Message to..." option. )

In addition to that, we also have an article with links for our newer members.

Looking forward to reading your posts!

Ah, thanks. It's a nickname for Michelle. Thanks for the warm welcome. You hit it right on the head, it is kinda overwhelming. I will most likely take you up on that offer for help. :)

Hi Shell Shell;

Welcome to the forum!

This was my first forum too, and apart from the odd 'peek' I have never bothered with others; they're not like this one! :D You picked a good one.

Well, I you have an 18 year old, he's bound to have conviced you that he knows everything, and that you know nothing........if my two are anything to go by.

They were computer 'nerds'. The one who is 26 is now having me showing him the odd trick!!!!!!

Great to meet you, and I look forwards to seeing your posts.;)

Assalamu 'Alaikum and welcome to RF! As you've probably noticed, we've got a great variety of religion here. So just pop into the forum of your choice and talk about whatever you like!

That sounded like an advertisement.... Anyways, welcome to RF.

Thanks for welcoming me. To answer, I chose a religious debate forum for a couple of reasons. I am "convinced" of my personal beliefs and those beliefs usually determine how I view everything in life. and thought that if I was going to join a forum, it only would make sense to join one where religion is a key subject. Also, I find it very interesting to listen to and really evaluate other people's viewpoints (even if they don't have the same beliefs as me). It would seem to me that this may be one where I would be really challenged to really think... Look forward to talking to you...

Thanks for such a warm welcome. Oh YES, my son truly believes he knows everything, as a matter of fact his words were that he's "superior" to me. There's a whole big story behind that though... I found it pretty humorous when he shared that with me for several reasons, but mainly because I thought that I was so much smarter than my mom at that age.
You know, I think it has a whole lot to do with the drastic changes in our culture and technology in these last 3 generations. It's funny how he can believe that just because I am not yet up to the same speed as him with technology that he can infer that my overall intelligence and life experiences can not teach him anything...
I am searching for a career field to pursue right now, (since I had him at age 16 and have been raising him for the last 18 years) and was running some ideas past him and I mentioned taking some courses for computer tech in general and you'd thought I had insulted him. ha ha. I look forward to learning much and being able to maybe even show him "my potential" ha ha -

This is a very pluristic forum so your notion of wanting to hear other's viewpoints will work well here. About the comment,

"this may be one where I would be really challenged to really think'"

...Rest assured this will be true and maybe more than you know as this is your first forum experience. Wecome to wonderful world of forum debate ! Knockout
