philosophy deals with man's spirituality, theology deals with Divine spirituality.
some philosophers are confusing because they are fallible. some think they are smarter than God. divine spirituality deals with both the Divine nature of God and his humanity.

Philosophy does not require faith. However, theology does. St. Anselm's definition of theology is "faith seeking understanding."
Philosophy does not rely upon Divine Revelation, but human reason.
Theology begins with Revelation and employs the use of philosophy in order to comprehend the incomprehensible through analogy. As such, philosophy is the handmaid of theology (Thomas Aquinas). This definition of philosophy is hardly exhaustive, so I am sure there are many other aspects to be commented on.

I don't think it's fair to label philosophers as confusing and obviously fallible, and theologians as saints.

I always thought that that theology dealt with man's relationship with God specifically (not man's spirituality) and that philosophy encompassed a larger picture of man's relationship with the abstract - hence philosophy's close relationship with mathematics, logic, etc... Theology I thought could almost be considered to be a subset of philosophy.

Philosophy - greek philo and sophia - love of wisdom?
