where does authority come from?

how do u tell ure kids that babies in many countriies are being massacred, and still be patriotic and understanding and respectful of those who support abortion.

Do you know there is an abortion thread on this board? With due respect, is there anyway you can adress the topic instead of perseverating on abortion?
This topic is about authority not abortion.

as an after thought, who gives us the authority to kill animals and plants and human beings? and why are some deaths proper and others not?

lol. good point. havent you killed any bugs? i have...just the other day i slaughtered an ant. eek. by accident of course. do i have the authority to kill? its called the circle of life.

for humans, you can have the authority to kill as long as its done in self defence (meaning on ourside of our door).

i try not to kill insects either. did u know that if u persist in shewing away flies, they won't return. their lifetime is only one day anyway, so live and let live. the problem is have to eat. so i must kill something to do that. or someone else does. the reason i don't eat dogs and cats is because they are domesticated. i would love to try turtle soup and alligator tail. of course everything has instinct. the movement of planets, galaxies, rocks which are pulled down by gravity and allow it most of the time. the heaviest elements and compounds are in the center of the earth. but not all life has a soul. i firmly believe all life goes to heaven. God will never destroy the earth. he would not destroy his creation or anything good. a soul knows the difference from right and wrong. except for God and angels, all other life has just that.

Killing occurs frequently throughout nature and it requires no authority. Only in law (thankfully) does murder require authorization.

man's law sometimes conflicts with divine law. i will follow divine law before i will follow man's law as man isn't always perfect like God.

But how do you know what you believe to be divine law really comes from God, and doesn't really come from men trying to lend authority to their beliefs by CLAIMING they come from God?

Jesus handed down to Peter the authority to proclain what's moral, traditional, and faithful. he made peter and his successors infallible on these three doctrines. the pope can be fallible on all else. the Holy Spirit prevents error on these proclamations, which gives us correct guidance. abortion is wrong in anybody''s book, it's murder, and even atheists will agree to that.

Yet, we only have the Bible and Peter's word on this. Circular reasoning. You have to do better than that.

Obviously not, not even all Christians agree that abortion is murder. In your opinion, is killing someone through the death penalty murder? Is innocent children killed in war murder? Is hitting and killing someone with your car murder?
