Is Hinduism Post-Apocalyptic?

Namaste Everyone,

Many of you are probably familiar with the genre of post-apocalyptic literature. Stories in this genre usually describe events that occur after a major disaster, like the collapse of a civilization.

Since the Vedas were written after the fall of the Indus Valley Civilization, does this make Hinduism a post-apocalyptic religion?

1. I am not aware of any link between IVC and the Rig-veda.
2. The Vedas were not written; they were commited to memory and transmitted orally. There is no evidence to show Indians knew writing prior to 300 BC. Even Panini's (500 BC) magnum opus Ashtadhyayi, which contains over 3000 grammar rules, was not in written form, until later.
3. Why does Hinduism start with the Veda? Why do you think it did not exist earlier, during IVC?

Agree with above. Rig Veda were transmitted by oral tradition and were never supposed to be written down as they are considered Shrutis. They are eternal and cannot be dated at the fall of IVC.

@ Indus Valley Civilization .. This finding of this civilization was a mere co-incidence and is an evidence that depicts the long continuing ancient Indian culture.
