And this topic is another piece of subliminal theology. The tao even says - hide your light under a bushel. There is no piece of "formulated advice" -theology, philosophy, economics, politics - that does not carry a codicil in the form of - do not show, all of your cards.

Except one. The exception that proves the rule, that makes NASA such a joy for the CIA... science.

Science thrives on transparency. Now if science is just another stopgap theology, then f it, ET go screw. but if science is How Things are Done - then we can expect no consideration of the value of our civilization from a scientifically advanced society with such a philosophical position. Besides, the lights are on, the radio waves are waving, and humanity has jumped upon the cosmic internet with Hitler's youtube. Deal. ;)

The only thing I figure can't be found in great abundance elsewhere is life and destroying it doesn't make it easier. Harvesting humans perhaps? There is a recent sci-fi movie I saw like that, Skyline.

I got the sarcasm. I just like that quote. It's a good reminder that no matter how hard we try to deny the truth, it always remains unchanged. I always try to strip everything down to it's basic levels. Are we just another animal? Yes. Can we be more than that? Sure. But we will never not be another animal species. We can add to our basic foundation but we can't take away from it.

Neither does Hawkings' assertion. I am merely suggesting the possibility that aliens have already been here.

I find it best to cut fantasy off at the head

I believe in UFO's, we do not know what is flying out there. I was talking with Chuck Yeager and he stated we know everything that flys in the sky. thats all I could get out of him on the subject. Not sure aliens have been here ever. Drones possibly.

who or whatever is out there, has so far made it clear they choose not to communicate in any way shape or form. Why, follows ones imagination. I personaly dont believe this pattern has ever been changed. Past or present.

I see no reason why this would change for ancient primitive barbaric people who would see a shooting star and claim angels or gods were coming to earth and then write about it.

I'll consider the idea of alien visiting us when someone can give a reason why you'd expend the astronomical resources to do so.

Earth girls?

The resource expense largely depends on the technological level of the species in question. It may be that a jump across the galaxy requires very little energy relative to how much they have available.
