I love craft beer!

I live in Pennsylvania. I've had just about every micro-brew from this state. Tröegs, Victory, Lancaster, Yard's, Lionshead, Weyerbacher...

I've also had countless beers brewed in other states (too many to mention).
Many imports also...

Beer is one of the greatest accomplishments of man IMO! Thank you Sumerians!

I agree. and like you I always make the extra effort to find the craft beers. that micro brewery no one has heard about.
My friends work very hard to craft beer and ale. and most of the time the results are wonderful. what they produce is far superior to any industrial beer. and much more interesting.
In relation to your Sumerian context. there are still people around that attempt to reconstruct the old brewing methods of Canaanite, Egyptian, and Mesopotamian cultures.
we had such a woman in our archaeology department in central Israel. who crafted beer in the old ancient Egyptian way.

I miss beer... I used to drink beer as a young teenager (don't judge!), but stopped when I realised that my father and grandfather also suffered from alcoholism.

But a cold glass of beer is refreshing, that's for sure!

Non-alcoholic beer?

Beck's tastes like crap, but it's more like beer pop than anything, and a non-alcoholic alternative that I can enjoy.

Yeah, I heard that somebody reconstructed an old beer recipe based on Sumerian hymns. I, for one, wouldn't mind trying a 4, 5000 year old beer style, simply out of sheer curiosity. I'm certain it's an acquired taste though.

The local wholesaler just got in RJ Rockers from South Carolina, which I had never tried before. So I picked the Box of Rocks variety pack. I'm drinking the Bell Ringer Ale right now and it tastes damn good for 8.5 abv. I also recently tried the Samuel Adams Imperial White. Terrible! It's like drinking beer mixed with vodka. Their traditional White Ale is much better.

Alcoholism runs in my family on both sides but it's not something that bothers me too much. Moderation is the key. Sometimes I wish I had never started drinking at all. Mainly because of all the extra money I could have now if I didn't.

I live only ten miles away from the Sam Adams brewery in Breinigsville. On top of that, there are dozens of other breweries in the vicinity. I don't think I have the patience for home brewing however.

Sure would love to though...:sad:

The true beauty of living in the states is that #1 we have guns and there is nothing anyone can do about it #2 we have all these peoples coming over and sharing their cultures with us, Al Habashi comes to mind but in the end this thread was about beer

Penn. is a good state to be in if you like beer.
There is a brewery in Lancaster country called 'Lancaster Brewing Co.'
Also if you get to Adamstown check out 'Stoudts' beer at the 'Black Angus' restraunt... they bottle their stuff as well. Keep an eye out.
Chambersburg, which is a far jaunt for you, has a brewery as well.

My favourite craft beer that I'd call satisfied at one or a session brew would be Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA, if you like hops you'll love this one.

I'm a beer drinker. My wife is an excellent brewer. She buys 25kg sacks of grain and grinds it herself rather than using those cans of syrup. With less than a year of brewing experience her hefeweizen became a finalist in the US national homebrew contest. I like to brag about her. I should say that home brewing does not save you any money. You'll keep wanting to try new things necessitating a trip to the brew shop.

Surprisingly, the craft beer selection is far worse in the UK than it is in the US. What's more, the Scottish craft beers all tend to be about the same: heavy 80 shilling with almost no hops. Good thing I like that beer. When I visit home I have to soak myself in hoppy beer. If anyone goes to Scotland, you need to try all the beers made by the Williams Brothers in Alloa. I'm from PA and my family and I are big craft beer fans. I usually stick to Yards, Victory, and Philadelphia Brewing Co. If I'm somewhere that doesn't haven't craft beer, Yuengling is about as national chain as I get.

I like microbrews. I don't drink often, but a good beer with your dinner often hits the spot for me.

I used to hate beer until I discovered that not all beer is Bud or Miller.
