"The reign of God may be likened to a king who
gave a wedding banquet for his son. He dispatched
his servants to summon the invited guests...but
they refused to come." (Matthew 22: 2-3)
--------------------------------------------------

First Reading: Isaiah 25: 6-10
Second Reading: Philippians 4:12-14 & 19-20
Gospel: Matthew 22: 1-10

REFLECTION: Several years ago, the bishops of the United States designated the month
of October as a special time to focus upon the topic of respect for life. We
remember in a special way in our prayers and Christian living the unborn, the
handicapped, the elderly, the poor, all those whose lives can be endangered by ill
health, by scarce resources or by the neglect and indifference of those around them.
The readings serve this theme very well. Isaiah reassures us that the Lord will
provide for all, with no distinctions. Matthew teaches that the Lord invites all to
his banquet.

PRAYER: For the Handicapped Persons.

Lord God, healer of all our infirmities and redeemer of our lives;lead us to a deep
appreciation of the talents and special needs of al persons, especially those who
are called handicapped, and instill in us desire to heal and be healed. Grant this
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Today is Columbus Day and Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Gather as a family and recite
the things that each of you are grateful for. Respond to each gift with Let Us Bless
the Lord

Tuesday

you may be healed of any spiritual handicaps.

Saturday
Do something today for a person who is handicapped.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, we thank you for your many blessings. And even as we're thanking
you, you continue to bless us. Help us always to have grateful hearts, and to
remember that all blessings come from you. Amen.
