Probably the most interesting part of the article is this:

I originally thought the idea of retributive justice rather barbaric, but under such judicial circumstances, where perpetrators of such crimes are rarely caught and the punishment given to them is both minor and cursory, such a punishment may well be the closest that Ameneh Bahrami will get to justice.

Pedophillia Is a "modern" crime. Even Samuel Pepys conciderd it "safe sex" (for him).
The Idea that sex with a child might be wrong would have been thought strange.

And to answer your question about how it's going to be administered, several weeks ago when I was reading about this the way I understood it was that SHE was going to inject the acid into his eyes, with a needle.


And the way it read about it was 'Iran delivers Old Testement ruling'


I am not sure exactly how I feel about this whole thing....
I can understand the whys and why nots

However, what I can say assuredly is that I hope this is the restorative justice this lady is looking for and isn't something she ends up regretting herself.

I assume she was as 'decent' person before this happened, and it's my fear that after sometime this feeling of revenge will wear off and she'll be left with remorse of doing the same thing she was pained by.

And it is disturbing as it is informative to the inter-workings of the human/religious/scriptural member minds.

I agree with your previous post in that it is disturbing what some religious forum members consider to be "justice"...*cough* angellous *cough*.... I stopped posting because I felt like I was trying to explain to a spanish conquistador that he should appreciate native american cultures. Some people are only interested in the gold!

You've misunderstood the bulk of AE's comments.

I think post #45 is a good summary, and there's some sarcasm in other comments that's related more to people's replies than to the issue.

I was pretty specifically address the quoted material and stand by what I said.

I am unsure of what I 'misunderstood' out of that.
I realize this is a 'fictitious situation' in which he is talking in what I quoted... but still.... I feel it was okay to chime in with a 'what the heck', regardless.

I appreciate your efforts to explain what you feel is being said and why retribution is worth while, at least in this case.

I can't speak for anyone, but it's safe to say Angellous was joking about killing people's families and that the comment was about this discussion, not the issue.

I appreciate your kind reading, but it wasn't a joke and I was addressing the issue.

We're so disconnected in our individualism. In the not-so-distant past, the fate of the entire family rested on the actions of any one member.

The selfish animals that create wars, commit genocide, and destroy economies may care for only one thing in the whole world - their children and families, unless they are completely inhuman.

If this were the punishment for the execs at Goldman-Sachs, it would never happen again. Same thing for the jerks who created the lies that resulted in the Iraqi war. They deserve to have their bodies ripped to shreds, but all they lose for the destruction of an entire nation is their job.

Let me clarify, though.

I think that it would be effective and it should be done, but it's simply not feasible in a sissy nation like the USA. We're much more subtle in our evil, stealing and exporting our violence to other countries.
