Could GOD kill himself?

Rex

And if he could what would happen?

(this is if you believe in GOD if you don't then pretend.)

depends on if he has/had made everything dependant upon his existance/presence.

i'm rather sure he's capable of anything including this, so i see no logical reason as to why not.although of course i see no reason as to why he would.

What an interesting question Rex!

Could God kill himself?

Hmmmm. My take:

The Creator should have the power to perform any task, so in theory, this should be possible...

.....but, if God could be killed (by Himself or otherwise), then he would not be a diety as I understand the concept, so this should be IMpossible.

Quite a pickle.

I guess I would have to side with Lightkeeper in that our concept of energy is as close to what our limited human understanding could perceive as God's substance......

To believe in God, as I see it, means that we would have to submit to the fact that we can NOT know for sure much about God...... and that God may or may not have to confine himself to what humans understand about substance and energy...... things God created, and thus, would not be bound by them.

Of course God could kill Himself. He's omnipotent. There is no limits to His powers. He's so powerful, He can kill Himself then bring Himself back to life again. Mwuhahahahaha!

Anyway, why would God want to kill Himself?

God cannot be killed. since God has no beginning, there can be no end. all creation has a beginning and an end, but God premates through all of these.

HOW SILLY!!! LOL! Knowing He is able, I would fear being turned into a "crispy critter!"
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. ~Elayne Boosler

Protect me from knowing what I don't need to know. Protect me from even knowing that there are things to know that I don't know. Protect me from knowing that I decided not to know about the things that I decided not to know about. Protect me from the consequences of the above prayer.

are you saying you're afraid of being turned into a crispy critter now?or is that also something he is incapable of doing?

How are we defining 'kill'?

On a human, physical level, by 'killing' we mean ending the life of one's physical body. If one believes that we only exist on a physical level, then being 'killed' is indeed the end of one's existence. However, if we believe that we are also spiritual beings, then 'killing' one's body is not truly the end of our existence. I believe that God is spirit, and therefore cannot be 'killed' in perhaps the sense that we usually mean it. If we mean that, can He end His own existence, period--well, I can't answer that! But if He did, well, I think we could safely say that the existence of everything else would go poof too.

God has experienced being killed on the physical level, though--as a Christian, I firmly believe that. Jesus, as God in the flesh, suffered a horrible death.

what will he do with his creation, the opposer?
what makes you think the almighty is incapable of killing a spirit?

come to think of it, all spirit (or life with free will) is his(ecc12:7), so perhaps if he ever did such a thing, we would suddenly become lead by natural instinct, or become barbaric if you will.

i think we are talking about kill in a spiritual divine sense. wich i think its impossible because God everything, why would a divine existance devote themselves to one thing: voilcence? why would there be a need to kill? kill and voilence only leads to suffering. suicide bombers cannot see that. they die for an ideal, a cause, it only leads to more suffering. no death can lead to peace. its impossible.

HelpMe,

I did not say God is incapable of 'killing' a spirit, including His own. As I said, I do not know if He could end His own existence. Who am I to claim to know such a thing? All I'm saying is that if, hypothetically, He did end His own existence, I believe that His creation would end too, because He sustains the existence of His creation. Without Him, everything as we know it, the physical realm AND the spiritual realm (which includes the opposer) would cease to exist. That is my belief. I can find some verses in the Bible that would help back up this belief, if you want me to find them.
