“Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being “magicians” and invoking djinns (spirits).
Ayandeh, an Iranian news website, described one of the arrested men, Abbas Ghaffari, as “a man with special skills in metaphysics and connections with the unknown worlds”.

i can field this one, thank you.
many ages ago in the womb of the first earth Antrpi'el the Brave had a sneaky sister who desired his favor from the Great Mother of the Tree. Ardath, who was younger than Antrpi'el and therefore a more powerful sourcerer turned her brother into a great bird and plucked one of his feathers. As the spell wore off and he returned to human form Ardath had the power to write anything she wanted with his feather and he was magickally compelled to make it so. Only destroying the quill made of his feather could set him free before Ardath sent him to the Great Mother to seek her destruction...

oh wait, i'm thinking of something else that somebody made up entirely.

I wish this was news to me. Looks like "witches" are still running amuck with their little magic spells and incantations. I just hope they learned their lesson in America after that last burning we had in Salem Massachusetts. :sarcastic

Witchcraft and Paganism were illegal in my country too - the UK until 1951. Buddhists seem to have the best track record as they have never terrorised people in the name of enlightenment.
