Her lastest song isn't a metaphor. Its blasphemy!
God planed his seed and satan came at night and threw in his weed seeds amngst the wheat. And so the labourer came to the master asking if he should pull out the weeds. The master said no incase the wheat gets damaged, saying: let them grow up together and at harvest time collect the wheat into my storeroom and burn the weeds with unquencheable fire.
Now that is a metaphor. Lady gaga is a weed seed!!! No-one can change her filthy nature. And only weeds like weeds!

I am so old that I don't know who Lady Gaga is, I am about 15 years behind the times when it comes to pop music. I have only just heard of The Spice Girls.

Violet.
Lady Gaga is a wonderful Social Advocate.

She advocates that people be their True and Unique Selves.
She champions GLBT rights.
She is a Taboo Smasher.

She is not put down/silenced by people's superstitious "imagery" gags.
I think she is highly underestimated
and also un/under-appreciated
by so many of the people she stands up for.
(this having nothing at all to do with whatever you think of her (pop) music)

People who think that Lady Gaga is an 'abomination'
generally think that homosexuality,
and freedom of sexuality in general,
is an abomination.
They are people who put homophobic, sexually controlling churches
up on higher pedestals than freedom of speech, and artistic expression.
There is your "debate" I guess.

Who cares what she stands for. Her music is horrible.

Try my approach....I don't listen to her, so I don't even form any opinions about her.
It works against all sorts of 'difficult' music, eg, Xian rock, Chinese opera, rap, Muzak, Phillip Glass.
That's hard to do when it blares out all over the radio and television. You can't really evade this stuff. :(

I've never heard of Lady Gaga. I suspect she isn't an 'abomination'. I just looked her up. Gaga is well-recognized for her outré sense of style in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. Her contributions to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements including five Grammy Awards, among twelve nominations; two Guinness World Records; and the estimated sale of fifteen million albums and fifty-one million singles worldwide. Billboard named her both the Artist of the Year in 2010 and the top selling artist of 2010; ranking her as the 73rd Artist of the 2000s decade. Gaga has been included in Time magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world as well as Forbes' list of the 100 Most Powerful and Influential celebrities in the world. Forbes also placed her at number seven on their annual list of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women.
