What is Truth?

This sound's like a good debate.

YOHANAN 18:38 Pilate said to him, What is truth? And as he said this,he went out again to the Yahudim and said to them,"I find no guilt in him.

Before that Yehusha stated that he would bear witness to the truth.

So then what is Truth?

(I know the answer as well as some of you also, but perhaps we can enlighten ourselves a little more as well as edify others at the same time.Thanks.)

led by the spirit,
The TRUTH is what is written in God's word, The Bible, Joihn 17:17. 1Pet 1:25, says that God's word lasts forever. THINK!! Itr is not God's word if the message has been adulterated!!!
God promised not to let that happen, Ps 12:6,7. God also warned people NOT to add or subtract from His word, Rev 22:18. This is the reason that the scribes have been so meticulous to copying and translating God's word all through the ages.
Now there is something that all should know. The Bible is truth and Jesus said that all MUST worship God with spirit and truth, that God is looking for such ones to worship Him, John 4:22-24.
Now, the Holy Scriptures tell us that peoiple just will not listen, even if the scriptures arte explained to them. The Bible tries to warn people not to let that happen to them, Acts 13:41.
Do not be found WILFILLY BLIND as many are, because the Bible tells us that people will be destroyed because they do not have a LOVE OF THE TRUTH, 2Thess 2:9-13.
Consider what Paul wrote Timothy at 2Tim 4:2-5, that people will gather people together to tell them things that would TICKLE their ears, because they did not want to hear the truth.
Jesus even went further when he explained that people would get so far from what the Bible really teaches that some would KILL his people, thinking that they had done God a sacred service, John 16:2,3.
Paul warned that some people would have a zeal for God, but not according to ACCURATE KNOWLEDGE, Rom 10:2,3.
Not knowing the truth they would twist the scriptures, to their own destruction, 1Tim 1:6,7, 2Pet 3:15,16. All who want to be teachers of God's word MUST be careful of STUMBLING people away from God's message to mankind, because these people are the VERY ONES who Jesus died for, Matt 18:6,7, 1Cor 8:11, Rom 14:15, James 3:1

Until the term is definitively settled, there will never be any meaningful debate on the subject.

This has been discussed before but for your benefit, the truth is every word that comes from the mouth of God.

John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever,
17 even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you.

So then what is Truth?

I largely favor Tarski's Semantic Theory of Truth as, by itself, the most accurate theory currently available -- although I think it might not be complete.

Reality is emergent, truth is consistency.

But hasn't the Coherence Theory been undermined by such considerations as the fact a belief can be consistent with all our other beliefs and yet have no independent supporting evidence? For instance: "The universe came into existence five minutes ago complete with historical records and memories".

Why is Jesus the Truth? What would prompt him to say that?
I believe Jesus is the Truth and said so because he is God the Word, full of grace and truth. He asked the Father to sanctify us with his truth, that his word is truth. Those who believe on him have eternal life and are set free. He said he is the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father but by him. As it says:

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. 5:21
