What Are Your Hobbies?

What are your hobbies other than religious or philosophical studies? I love to rock hunt and beach comb. I play the electric guitar, the uke, keyboards, harmonica, love to draw and work the hardest crossword puzzles I can find. I also love photography and walk a lot.

LOL... I dance (ballet and Irish stepdance), sing (broadway, choral, Irish-English folk, and anything else I like), act (at Renaissance Faires and on stage--musicals, dramas, comedy; doesn't matter, I like it all!), do taekwondo (blue belt, yay!), and write (fiction and nonfiction: *points to signature*). Oh, and I collect fairies (cuz they're so darn cute and glittery and purty!)

I am jealous, Runt! I can't sing worth a darn being tone deaf and I have absolutely no sense of rhythm! Unfortunately, I love to do both! I am kind enough not to burden the public with my 'howling' and don't go many places to dance.

My main hobbies are collecting vinyl records ( I have somewhare around 5,000 at last count) and fossiling. I live in Florida and, although we may not have had any dinosaurs roaming around, Florida is one of the best states for recovering preserved prehistoric mammals and shells. Besides, I love the outdoors and communing with nature.

I sing, (bass....low bass. Sometimes it reminds me of a viking hero's poems, but then again the poet would likely have a softer voice, eh?) but that is usually at random or in a most silly fashion. Only getting into choir (concert, high school) this year. I have been told that I could act and excel in drama, but I lack something (how do you say...balls) on stage, and dislike the attention. I enjoy reading, walking (bah, when I have to), the internet, studying religion, ancestry, advising friends and being a shoulder for support (and crying) in personal matters, roleplaying (online), sparring (I have done both hand to hand and with practice swords, finding that I am better with open-handed sparring, using more of grabs and whatnot than just throwing punches), hacky-sack (one could write about a philosophy about the game, but that would represent more than anything an over-abundance in time at home), teaching, and music (bagpipes, Red Army Choir, Rasputina, MSI, Led Zeppelin, Traditional Japanese, Irish Drinking Songs, celtic folk, what one could consider "pagan" music, techno/trance/whatever they call it these days, industrial, and....)
. . .
and I'm spent.

I LOVE dancing!! I used to take lessons when I was little, and I don't do it as a sport anymore, but when I hear a good song I just can't help gettin' my groove on, lol!

I sing, but only a select few have been lucky enough to hear me--I'm very shy about it for some reason! One time when I thought I was alone in the house, I was wailing it in the shower...little did I know my sister was home and she caught a good deal on tape. LOL, I almost killed her!

Damori, It's interesting that you mention 'sparring'. I've never gotten to the point of being so organized as to get real practice swords, but me and my friend from my barn often 'swordfight' with our dressage whips (about the length of your average foil) in the barn aisle after everyone else has gone home...LOL, I can only imagine what someone would think if they walked in on us!

Oh wow... that's... wow. Can't say I have ever seen, or heard, of that before. If you really wanted to have some fun you'd get into short sword-knife fights with cattle prods, depending on the length of course. I never have been a shower-singer, mainly because I don't enjoy singing around my family, but at school or elsewhere it is a different story.

I remember my first day of coming back to school in my I-TV German class I started singing part of either 'Tradition' or...I cannot remember. The teacher (lass with a good sense of humor and everything else) caught it on the mic and told me that her husband was a Russian Tenor in it. Funny things that happen...

Edit: And with the cattle-prod fighting you can get bucklers that are rubber, perhaps?

1.learning, anything, it all goes into perspective/outlook so i love to learn about anything
2.listening to music, makes the time @ work go by faster, i listen to all if not every type of music(msi to 2pac to alanis to fulanito[spanish] to reggea[riddim's are cool] to techno and so forth)
3.competition, physical preferably because winning in such doesn't seem to damage the loser as much.and if i lose, i still have fun
4.anywhere/thing with friends?
5.photography, whether mine or someone elses it's great
6.beach, tan/swimming
7.bowling/driving range/misc geeky stuff like that to pass time
8.reading, goes with learning
9.learning to communicate with people through experience(somebody lacked a healthy childhood), strangers are fun n scary

Hmm...I don't know, several hobbies I suppose. Being a Tolkien-fanatic, playing guitar, running, drawing, fencing and other such sword fighting (which is apparently a hobby much more common than I thought!)...never with cattle prods though, I imagine that would rather hurt. Hmm, not much else, really.

Almost everything I do in my spare time relates to languages. I try to learn as much as possible of the strucure and scripts of different languages. Not being very systematic, I am only fluent in three foreign languages, but given time and dictionaries, I can decipher easy texts in quite a few. The language interest means of course that I also read a lot of the cultures and religions etc. of the countries where those languages are spoken. When I need a change, I do some gardening, and I have a rather nice collection of herbs. I like to cultivate them, but seldom use them in cooking.

Hmmm... Let's see. I am a martial artists for the most part. I teach, compete, everything. I am an e-dan (second degree) black belt in tang soo do. And I also have studied ninjutsu, aikido, hapkido, kickboxing, and many weapons. My favorite weapon is tthe ee jul bong, or nunchaku. Next is kum do, or sword. I also teach muk nyum do (meditation). I was just recently in the International Tang Soo Do Federation 8th world championship in orlando. And I was on the pittsburgh sparring team. And we won. I was the last fighter against texas and I won 3-0. YES!!! I won it for the team. So now I can say I am a world champion fighter. Other than that, I do arts and crafts. Mostly watercolor painting and comic style art. I do lots of wood work, staffs, wands, tables, chairs, figurines, relief work, dream catchers, etc... Ummm... Other than that, I play drums and love to listen to music (of almost all kinds). I guess that is it.

I build custom choppers for a living, harley's, bsa's, triumph's. I enjoy it so much I like to call it a hobby =) I'm into video games (started playing one called everquest and I can't seem to stop), enjoy all types of music mainly rock and blues, learning about computers and web design, like to do woodworking and art. I'd like to learn marine mechanics in the future, possibly live on a boat. Really into going to clubs and to party w/ friends on the weekends...

I love doing all sorts of things--reading, drawing, writing (poetry, fiction, journals), hiking, running, rock-climbing, ice skating, horseback riding. I love spending time outdoors--being surrounded by nature really recharges my batteries. I also love learning other languages and about other cultures---my true passion, though not really a hobby, is simply traveling. If I had the money, I'd spend at least a couple years just globetrotting.

Lately, I've been spending way too much time in this forum so it probably counts as a hobby.

I like to garden although that usually means planting it and then letting my poor husband do the weeding and upkeep. Every so often I'll go out and spend a few hours in it, but mostly I just admire it. <g>

I love to quilt and just made my son's girlfriend a lovely double irish chain and started on a flannel Christmas quilt for my 12 year old son.

I'm learning Japanese although it's sort of sporadic. I'm also learning to play the bodhran (celtic drum).

Now if I could just find someone to teach me tai chi...
