Atheism: A belief?

Atheism undergoes more changes than the Theory of Evolution. Who would have figured.
Not quite. It's the people talking about atheism who go thru changes.
Atheism just sits & watches all the drama...serene & unchanging.

So now "atheism" is active disbelief.

It keeps changing shape. :D

Only inasmuch as answering "no" to a simple question constitutes an "activity". Then again, many atheists will never be asked that question. No question, no "active disbelief."

So everyone is still playing word games....

Has anyone said so yet....I thought I did....

That you make discussion with conviction, and firm assertion.....
you believe what you say.

That your speech is one of denial....
It is your belief.

Theists might have figured that out, since "God" is probably the shiftiest word in the language. ;) What we have here is a food fight over a definition. Disputes over language can become very heated. I have heard that a linguist was once executed over some advice he gave to an ex-colonial African nation. They had asked him to decide which regional language should be the official one, and he picked the one with the largest number of speakers. The group in power spoke a different language.

So speaking of something...with conviction on your part....
is not a reflection of what you believe?

I think that person was trying to say "What exactly is the belief?". Saying atheism is a belief doesn't reveal anything about it.

Well those educated about it, know about it.

how does an honest description of your beliefs mean they're in conflict?

It's really all dependent on if you chose to label yourself under a certain denomination of belief. It comes from the origin that, belief is common among the world, as it is built off of personal axioms. Those who chose to follow a certain label subject themselves to hypocrisy, simply because man's belief expands beyond one false principal.
