"Pray the Gay Away" airing on OWN

I don't think they ought to do it. This will just reinforce this idea in the minds of people that homosexuality is a choice, when it isn't for us who are really gay, and that Christian boy ought to be ashamed for allowing whoever he did to brainwash him into hating himself. He didn't come up with this on his own. A gay person doesn't just reach the conclusion one day that homosexuality "isn't God's plan".

It's Oprah's network. She is an avid gay supporter, so I'm sure she wouldn't let anything air that would actually hurt them. This is probably more informational so that people can see what others are doing to try to "scare away" the gay.

I did not see anything positive about that preview.

I don't know ... I really doubt this will work. I once tried to pray a wine stain out of my favorite pair of khaki pants and nothing happened. If God isn't willing to get merlot out of a pair of Dockers, I really don't see Him taking the time to completely reverse someone's sexual preference and identity. But hey, maybe the Holy Father is just stumped by wine stains.

the series is called "our america"
personally i think it's great. it will open a door for discussion.
i can almost bet that lisa ling will question the guy if he was brought up with a religous back ground (christian no less) and if he could possibly be bi-sexual...

lets see.

"he has a dream for his future that looks nothing like the life he's just shown me."

i think that the young man interviewed is falsely associating his sexual orientation with the lifestyle he wanted to escape. he clearly has his regrets over his club-hopping, stripper lifestyle and probably doesn't recognize that one can be gay without going through the hoops of what so many consider "gay culture". he also shares that he has always wanted to get married (he says to a girl), and in this country it's much easier for a man to marry a woman than to marry another man.

i just think that he's trying to change his life in a direction he feels more comfortable with and is mistakenly lumping all of this onto his homosexuality, rather than addressing the real issues that he wants to change (his nightlife, having a family, etc.). and unfortunately this mistake is supported by the people who are making money off of "curing" homosexuality, rather than trying to help rescue gay youths from just falling into what they falsely consider the norm.

i guess all of this will be aired out tomorrow when the actual show comes on, though.

I wonder if I could pray the atheism away?

Oprah had no problem validating that junk self improvement called "The Secret".

As well as the quack doctor Mehmet Oz. John of God. Michael Drosnin and his ridiculous Bible Code.

Oprah is notorious for exhibiting garbage on her show. When her magazine hired on Harriet Hall, a doctor that exhibited a healthy dose of skepticism, it was a short lived affair. Oprah only shows what sells and the public buys crap.

So I'm a bit skeptical if this is genuine journalism or average day sensationalism.

Ohh!

I thought the thread was titled:
"Pray the Gay way" ---as in, 'new and inproved'.

BTW, What would the most sublime and spiritual Gay Prayer be like?

I don't feel Oz is a total quack. Sure he believes in some forms of Eastern medicine (acupuncture) but most of what he says is medically legit. You can't be a cardiac surgeon with quackery science backing it. A lot of people would die, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Sorry, I don't "do" Oprah and have no interest in the drivel on her network. Haven't we all had enough of this woman yet? Jeez, Louise.
I had a very good friend of mine on there and don't consider his work drivel......Welcome to Custom Prosthetic Designs, Inc.

This guy has done a lot for people who suffered removal of eyes, noses, and some physical birth defects by making prosthesis for them. Very proud to have him as my friend.

Mehmet Oz came forth in favor of faith healing.

Here's a good article on Oz.
