Heaven and Hell

I always found Heaven and Hell to be to most useless of athiest/pagan discussions.

Athiest/pagan groups can't seem to agree on much and spend a lot more time condeming believers in God than being content in their own belief system.

wierd

:D I think I hit a nerve eh? :D

anyway, you believe in Heaven and Hell if that is what it takes to make you a better person.

Athiest/pagan don't all belong to the same 'religon' as so a variety of belief is expected.

do:wa? I looked all over and couldn't find a definition of this word?
did you mean do'hi (peaceful) do'hv? (why?) do'yi (out of doors) do:yu (truely/certenly)

wa:do simply means thank you in cherokee.... perhaps you ment the opposite of that concept?

okay, my perception of heaven and hell is kinda different. when you do good, you improve your karma, good things come back to you, you are in a sort of *heaven*. when one finds the truth, and becomes liberated from samsara, thats the official heaven where you get to become part of Brahman, the devine.

hell is the opposite, when you do evil stuff, you make more negative karma, thus bad things you do, makes you suffer. you become more unhappier.

the difference is that these are states of mind.

i believe that everyone accumilates these through life after life after life, going on a perpetual roller coaster ride until you find the truth and become free.... (*heaven*)

but of course, there are the myths, legends and stories of how tormented (rakshasis) demons battle with the (devas) angels. good against evil. this conflict is of course representing our stuggle as a communty against vice, and as an individual to discern between the right and wrong choices in our daily lives.

Hell is not a place with fire and brimstone. That's the Catholics and the Baptists trying to scare you into being a good boy. Hell is merely a state of seperation from God. The burning mentioned in the Bible is the guilt that will riddle the unfortunate soul that actually experiences that state.

Heaven is like the garden of Eden. We will be resurrected beings that will have families and enjoy eternal progression with our loved ones.

No one can be saved or condemned in ignorance. Every soul that has walked the earth will hear about the Gospel at some point (if not here then in the spirit world). They will make their own decisions based on that knowledge and reap the benefits or consequences based on those informed decisions.

What you post is true.Have you read Swedenborg's writings? He wrote a book called "Heaven and Hell"

dan...... there you go again, preaching about a faith you know nothing about....

The Catholic faith does not profess that Hell is a place with fire and brimstone, and we surely don't want to scare anyone.

inquisition anyone?

i've had catholics profess that hell is an actual physical place with fire and brimstone, so perhaps you individually do not, but your bretheren have.

too much HelpMe. too much.

hell and heaven i believe are states of mind. you get reborn higher, you are happier, its kinda heavenish. you sin, you are born lower and you suffer. you are suffering and in hell.

when you attain enlightenment and salvation, you are freed from this and float to the top and become one with God. the ultimate happiness.

there is probably an opposite for the latter. hmm...

a physical place is impossible unless it was in another dimention or something. word.

you believe that innocent people like the jews go to hell? anne frank? my gawd you are cruel. God is not like that. God never judges people like that. God judges people on thier actions, deeds and thoughts, not on whether they profess thier faith in some rebel.

since you quoted me, i assume you're talking to me?under which circumstances i must ask from where do you make your accusations?i don't believe hell is a place in the middle of the earth or anything bogus like that, it is as far as scripture has allowed me to see, a simple distance from the almighty's love.why were the jews innocent?i'm not saying they deserved at all what happened to them, but all(save one) humans are guilty of something.neither did i claim that hell was literally what it is descibed as a couple times(contradicting much more scripture if not taken figuratively), i claimed to disagree with catholics whom hold such.go take reading comprehension101?

thanks for telling me what God is like, hahAH.

PS 30:5But his anger is for a moment, and his favour a lifetime...

thats my form of God. you worship him in a zues like figure (assuming that you worship the christian God father), im fine with that.

"i claimed to disagree with catholics whom hold such.go take reading comprehension101?"

some catholics as well as protestants hold a fundamental view. but there are some that dont.

and jews arent what you considered "saved". thats what i disagree with. christians saying that the literal jesus is the only path to heaven.

ROFL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love talking about these kind of topics.

First off --- Hell doesn't exist period. If it does i'll need papers and proof of it. Second there is a paradise after you die which is called summerland where you think of your life and prepare for your next.

Only my opinions,
sincere,

the dinosaurs didn't exist until we found them, neither did electricity.well, according to your logic.

yeah?so why accuse me of holding it?

how so?considering that i have no image of [yhwh]?

i accuse you of nothing. i just said that fundamentalism is bad, because they are not tolerant and peaceful. this world needs tolerance and peace, not riot causing extremists.

everyone has an image of God. dig deeper. if you dont have an image or sound or whatever, i find it hard to believe you can pray with full on concentration.
many christians look at jesus on the crucifix as the image. some people imagine an old guy with a long beard in a white robe in coulds with a magnicificent light. whatever is okay. im not accusing you of anything.

This is true. So until we find god, he shall remain non-existent.

An interesting concession for you to make. How can you believe in something you have no perception of? How you be sure it's there?

we knew dinosaur as dragons, cyclops and gryphons and other 'thunder beasts' long before we called them 'dinosaurs'. We knew about lightning long before we understood electricity....

someday maybe we will find a scientific definition for what myth calls god.... ;)
