This is a continuation of a topic started in another thread. What was the purpose of Lucifer? Why did God create Lucifer?

It is interesting to note that Lucifer/Satan's first successful try at tempting man was in convincing man that he also could be like God, knowing both good and evil.
pah said:Genesis 3 specifically calls the tempter a serpent who was more crafty that any of the other animals and, even in comdemnation, Genesis 3:14-15, refers to the creature as a seppant who hereafter will crawl on it's belly and cast "enmity' on humankind. That sure sounds like the snakes of today.
Now this, literally taken is not Satan or Lucifer so it must be considered, if your believe Christy's assertion, that the character, at least, is mythological. and a symbol of Satan and perhaps Satan himself is mythological.
Probably more proper in another thread, I beleive that is conclusive that the creation story is completely myth.

Yes, temptation came by way of a serpent, but this serpent was not like the serpents of today. He was, in fact, the power of evil very present in the world today - you may call him the devil, or satan, or lucifer or any name you wish...you may even call him non-existent if you are feeling especially "brave." Fact is, he does exist.
Or, rather, god is very happy, because god created satan...I think Satan is very happy to reap the fields of the unsuspecting.
