Are you considered a NERD?

Usually on forums where intelligent debate goes on, I find that a lot of the members have little/no interest sports, partying, or physical activity. They are considered nerds because everything is just about intelligence and nothing else. So are you a nerd?
I'm a semi nerd, but I'm very physically active (being a Fitness Trainer) and love almost all sports.

I've been called a nerd by my wife and colleagues.

That's mainly because I spend all my time looking up tiny details.

I guess I am I like RPG games, strategy, reading and things to do with computers and technology in general.

But I also like going out to clubs and partying with large amounts of alcohol involved.

As for sports, skiing and sailing are my twin loves :)

I really enjoy learning about foreign politics, current events, philosophy, religion, and I do like to play video games to some extent. I can enjoy parties in moderation though (as long as they aren't too loud) and I'll go and hang out with my friends if I want to. So I would I say I am fairly nerdy, though not entirely.

Well, my avatar is the symbol of the Codex of Infinite Wisdom, and I'm currently listening to the "Dracula New Classic" CD, which is a series of orchestral remixes of Castlevania music, and I'm studying computer programming for the sake of learning how to make games, in addition to currently coding an AD&D 2nd edition character generator to practice what I know.

Yeah, I'm a complete geek, and PROUD of it!

Nerd? Why, certainly! When I was around 12, most of the kids in my street would be kicking a football around the streets. Where was I? Out collecting fossil brachiopods from the local woodland. And I even knew what a brachiopod was...

I've always been in that weird category of people who love nerdy things but never get called a nerd (to their face at least). I'm fairly good at lifting weights, kung fu, street fighting and arm wrestling. I've got tattoos and piercings and always wear a leather jacket so I look nothing like the stereotypical nerd.

However...

I play Warhammer, Warmachine, Magic the Gathering and for a while I played World of Warcraft, I grew up on star wars and can quote monty python films almost word for word, my lowest grade in High school was a B, I'd rather get to know a girl before I sleep with her, I can't help but correct people's vocabulary, I love fancy dress, I have an account on dragonfable, Urban dead and 7 different forums (5 of which are to do with Warhammer) I'm obsessed with QI, I think medieval armour looks cool and own several fantasy/scifi weapons, I have no interest whatsover in football, I love the Cthulhu Mythos, I write fiction, I read for enjoyment, I discuss history and philosophy with friends, I think quoting Edgar Allan Poe or Byron makes a suave chat up line and not only do I love The Big Bang Theory, I can actually relate to it.

So yeah, I'm more nerd than not

Hey, Shyanekh. You're a NERD. :run:

(welcome to the club. Being a nerd's club, I'm sure it has a Latin name, but no-one's told me it. Can probably work it out though... I'm like that.)

Oh I get it... Feel safe behind that computer do you? Well wait until I get my exceptionally skinny and pale friend to HACK it!

:p

I thought the nerd club was called The Horde?

*edit* Damnit I kicked the WOW addiction before and now I just want to reinstall it again. Anybody know any decent free MMOs so I can experience endless grind and spam without having to pay for it?

Well, there is Guild Wars (and BTW, the sequel looks incredible), which you only have to pay for once and has absolutely no monthly payments or anything like that. Would that count?

When I was 12, I built a hovercraft from a carpet cleaner. :D

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I have never been considered a nerd, in part I think because I have always enjoyed a wide circle of friends of various ages, social groups, religions, colors, you name it. I'm considered more eccentric than nerdy.

I DO have a penchant for foreign films (there's no such concept as "too many subtitles" in my book), Korean spices (hot, hot, hot!), Lyle Lovett, anything to do with Henry VIII, documentaries on conjoined twins, ABBA, Newfoundland sea shanties, hiking in the scrubby terrain of central Texas (beauty in dust and mequite trees), Christmas sweaters, and I've seen The Sound of Music and Napoleon Dynamite both at least 10 times...

So maybe I am a nerd and I just don't know it.
