There is a difference. Morals are subjective to a person. Ethics are ojbective to a code. Like you have a code of "ethics" at work but not a code of "morals".

I think it's just the professional version of morals.

Morals are what you do when no one is watching. Ethics are codified actions.
I understand what you are saying, NetDoc, but I think you can do immoral things even when people are watching. Just look at the things George W. Bush does with the whole world watching.

Ethics are a philosophical reasoning out and balancing of principles. The results are morals. That is, ethics defines and gives logical perameters to how we should act, and the resulting system is morality. The task of ethics is to answer the philosophical question "how shall we act," and the answers are morals. I had to dust off several of my ethics books for the discussion on abortion.

Well, ethics and morals are certainly intertwined. My opinion is that morality should be based on a code or set of principles. This is in contrast to a person who bases moral decisions on their intuition or conscience. In the first system, a decision is measured against a set of rules or generalities, and in the second system, the decision is based on whether it feels right or not. I am sure some people use a combination of both systems.

Im not sure but i'll give it a try:

Ethics are the fundations of morals.........kindda like this:

If you could imagine a house, then the Ethics would be the foundations, first floor second floor and so on, and Morals would be the roof

The explanation is: Without Ethics we have no moral.

The are both the education of the good, but Ethics are something you have before you need them, and when you need them they are developed into your morals. I believe your Ethics are told to you in your upbringing, and then you yourself develope your morals when needed.
