Hmm I should clarify that statement.

All religions that claim that their interpretation of God to be the only true God are false...so there are false Gods for false religions.

Worshipping Gods and Deities whilst acknowledging that their Gods are in fact subjective to them, embracing instead the spiritual rather than the dogmatic and conceding that other Gods 'exist' or could exist, is perfectly acceptable to my mind.
In fact as the UU would agree I think all religions including my own are valid but not altruistic perceptions of God...(the 'real' God is and always is hidden from our parochial little minds)...even the false ones I regret to say.
The problem with the false religions is that they are false not because they are factually wrong but because the driving motive & methodology behind the religion is not spiritual or even holy.

Lucifer sets out to stand for reason and science...Lucifer says man needs no master...he can be his own master.

The 'real' God is a kaledioskope of different faiths/beliefs/dreams and we do see patterns forming.
Fascinating, thanks.

Annhilator...thanks for answering our questions, I must say you’re a lot friendlier than many evangelicals and atheists I've encountered.

Following up on this question...

For now, a simple one: do you believe Christ was a manifestation/ servant/ whatever of Lucifer?

Yes, that would make sense to me.

I know there is/was a group that held the Jewish God of the Old Testament was a different God than Jesus spoke of in the New. To me there are big differences that have never been explained to my satisfaction. The Old Testament God seemed vengeful and exclusive where as, for the most part, Jesus spoke of forgiveness and inclusivity and he was referred to as the Morning Star in scripture. Maybe there is something to this after all.

So my question then is: Do you believe the creator God to be the God of the Old Testament? Was Lucifer a creation of this God, and if so does that mean Lucifer is limited and doomed to failure?

I am no one special so there is no need for me to act like I am special :angel2:

I believe that the old God of the OT 'created' man (via intervention) and Lucifer too.
However I also think that what we westerners and arabs/semites call God is not some omnipotent super entity...although it might have seemed like it...after all technology if sufficently advanced enough is indistinguishable from magic.
Lucifer is just a rebel, rejecting his servitude and helping humans to do the same and be their own masters, some believe that he/she (lucifer) is a tool of God, to explain why God simply hasn't just annihilated him/her already...I say God hasn't the power.

Yes Jesus is called the 'Star of the Morning' (Venus) which is also what Lucifer was named for as you point out...it is these clues we look for ;)

I was raised in a conservative Christian home and still live in the “Bible Belt” so that worldview is deeply engraved, I’m trying to free myself from it though.

What do you mean by technology…is indistinguishable from magic. Do you believe God to be of an advanced technology?

I would encourage you to continue to go along the path you are choosing, religion has it's levels of devotion and understanding for you the christian religion is not suitable for your 'level' I suspect.

Indeed I do...the bloodthirsty 'God' of the Book we know of is nothing more than mysticism built upon a technologically highly advanced non human intelligence...not an extra galactic super being...He may be a collective or singular entity, that I don't know...in my honest opinion...thats what the clues seem to say to me...as bizzare and outlandish as that claim sounds.

Angels, demons and chariots of fire....

This smacks of Alien religion I know...but in my book alien is just another word for angel.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I try not to make judgments of other’s belief systems.

Usually when I mention this hypothesis people nod sympathetically and then after the inevitable awkward silence, change the discussion...which is understandable.

Probably not...do you mean Soccer?

I don't usually watch sports.

But I will watch England play soccer (in the world cup) and eventually get beaten by some tinpot nation...always fun.

That was a joke about changing the subject...

I feel the only way to find the truth is to explore all options. Truth fears no examination.

Is the belief in the existence of a non-human higher intelligence any more bizarre than the belief in a paranormal/supernatural deity?

Ahh sometimes I am extraordinarily stupid.

As for your last comment...indeed...in fact isnt it more likely?

So before we derail this tread discussing fairy's muffs...

I have heard of the theory that a highly advanced alien race genetically engineered the human race to be used as a slave work force, and then a member of the alien race assisted the humans in a rebellion overthrowing them. The stories re: these events became the myths around which religions formed. So where does your belief differ?
