What Religion/Sect was it…

I remember hearing about a religion/sect that believed God created the world and all that was in it, but they worshipped Lucifer because they felt he brought freedom, free will and reason to the world. It may have been a Gnostic sect, I’m not sure. I’ve been trying to find info on them.

Sounds like the Yezidis to me.

The Yezidis are close, but don't really fit the bill.

Theistic Luciferianism would be the modern expression of this but I was looking for the historical sect. The more I’ve read it seems like it was a Gnostic sect, there were hundreds of them and a lot of them held the physical world to be evil or a prison and the creator god was not a benevolent being.
