Your emotional outlet?

What is your emotional outlet and how did you find it??

The guy I am casually dating said something interesting to me today... he said that he thinks the most important thing for me is to find my emotional outlet. It would be something that makes me the happiest doing, and would supersede everything else, including relationships...

Doing this would enable me to better emotionally care for myself...

I was talking with him joking about liposcultpure... that's what brought it on...

So anyway, I started thinking about it, and I am afraid I really don't have an outlet. I love writing, but it's mainly online that I fulfill my need to play with words... I love dancing, but I've tried that in it's many forms and I never stick with it cause of the people. I love religious studies, but I couldn't say that it's an outlet. I love helping animals... I would like to foster cats one day... I would volunteer at the local shelter but I don't have time with work...

So yeah, I don't have one. I'm thinking maybe I should do yoga... would that count?

Music is my outlet. I sing and I talk alot. When I need to get it out - I consult my closest friend. My husband's pretty good at hearing me out but there's nothing like confiding in a girl who gets you.

I think we find them naturally, or we go back to things which make us feel better.

Mine is philosophy, the more challenging the better. It disconnects me from all my mundane concerns and brings me back to a place where I can see the world more clearly with value.

Your post above sounds like an emotional outlet. I don't see why it might need to be dramatic, sometimes a hug is all we need or just sharing our thoughts :)

Personally, I like to punch inanimate objects. I have been bested by the mailbox twice(walked away with a broken hand) so now I stick to the punching bag. I also like to bare-knuckle box with my more extreme friends. Other than that, I write/draw/read/drink/Smoke pot when the mood strikes and just generally vent to whomever wants to listen(that's why I like forums so much).

Do you hire your skills out? ;)

Being outside is mine. Walking, cycling, climbing, spinning about on the motorbike. Nothing like the outdoors.

I do love the outdoors.

I love martial arts too like Venatoris. I had to dip out of martial arts cause the people were crazy. My master doesn't teach anymore...

I've decided on belly dance, yoga, and martial arts when the opportunity presents itself.

The only reason I dipped out of belly dance was cause of the people. The owner of the studio I attended was catty and negative as all hell. She could never say anything nice about anyone and it got under my skin.

I'm gonna find a different studio.

And there's a yoga place in town. :)

Astronomy is my outlet. There is a quote from H.G. Well's The Time Machine that sums up how I feel about it.

"Looking at these stars suddenly dwarfed my own troubles and all the gravities of terrestrial life. I thought of their unfathomable distance, and the slow inevitable drift of their movements out of the unknown past into the unknown future."

Working out(mostly).
Though there is dancing and singing sometimes(witch I don't do around people)
And drawing, which I haven't done in a long time.

I like to practise my fire twirling and juggling.

It helps me think. The repeated movements are meditative.

I'm learning double staffs at the moment.

YouTube - fire twirling - double pixie staff

It's pretty difficult because i'm totally uncoordinated. This forces me to break down the moves into their smallest components and practise them until it feels natural, very relacing.

I'm afraid to say, and certain members would probably pounce me, is that about three to four times out of the year I get really drunk. Like tonight. Only four beers and two glasses of a very fine Jack Daniel's Single Barrel tonight. Stick around for the fun tonight.

The rest of the time, which constitutes the vast majority of time, is music. Listening to good music.

And, if I must admit since I supposedly dedicated myself to a year off from the forums but didn't make five months, is ******** my life out on VB Bulletin.

I think my emotional outlet is singing and having an exercise. It makes me feel active and healthy.

I haven't found anything that serves as a complete emotional outlet.

Typically, adrenaline rushes are something I look for. Or I listen to really loud rock/metal music.

Art is an emotional release for me, when it's not completely frustrating. :D I recently carved a pumpkin, and took it a bit further this year. I got so into it that it was an emotional experience and provided me intense satisfaction. here's a pic.
