What do you think God looks like?

I always imagine him as having white hair and a white beard. I think that he looks just like a human.

Well he is supposed to have created man in his image.. but then I cant imagine an onmipotent being having any definite form.

Oh God ES , I think you may be correct . ;)

I think that God is like an elephant ...

Four blind men discover an elephant. Since the men have never encountered an elephant, they grope about, seeking to understand and describe this new phenomenon. One grasps the trunk and concludes it is a snake. Another explores one of the elephant's legs and describes it as a tree. A third finds the elephant's tail and announces that it is a rope. And the fourth blind man, after discovering the elephant's side, concludes that it is, after all, a wall.

I think god looks like a man. Maybe about 8 foot tall so he doesn't have to look up to anyone. Built just right so he has a body that is a slab of muscle. Maybe black or brown hair? I don't know. I've never really thought about it before.
But I've never thought of God having to take on a physical form either.

Tawn, since you're an atheist, you obviously don't believe in the divinty of Jesus Christ any more than you believe in God the Father or any other deity, for that matter. But, in the event that you did, I'd remind you that when Jesus walked the earth, He was able (according to Christian belief) to calm the winds and the rain during a storm simply by saying, "Peace. Be still." If He, having a form, had total control over the elements, it doesn't seem at all impossible to me for God the Father to also have a form and be able to be omnipotent.

That's all well and good -- for the blind men. But a sighted person would have a far better understanding of God, being able to see the entire picture.

The Bible says that Jesus is "the express image of His Father's person." So I think it should be obvious to anyone who accepts the Bible as the word of God that Jesus Christ and His Father look just alike. I don't think that God has to do anything He doesn't want to do. In fact, I find it interesting that most people seem to think that a physical form is somehow inferior to a non-physical form.

It kind of depends on what I'm feeling at the moment.

When I'm overjoyed, flowing with happiness, and confident in my sensuality,
the Goddess looks like Oshun....

On other days, when I'm feeling more sedate, Kwan Yin is more suitable, with her infinite compassion and love for humanity...

The last is the one for when I'm feeling down, and need to celebrate the goddess within. She may be only a fictional character, but some anime fans seem to think I share similarities with her, which is why I chose her as my avatar. From the "Ah, My Goddess!" series, I give you... Belldandy!

And for the male aspect of diety-

Except maybe with little antlers.

Curses! *pounds floor in a tantrum*

Okay, okay, the antlers comment was from a few months back when I was eliciting thoughts on a sketch I was thinking of doing. I wanted to draw a picture of male divinity, and thought I'd use Viggo Mortenson, but then use the pagan 'stag god' archetype and give him... erm... Well, a really nice rack.

Except that, since then, I've decided I really like Dominic Monaghan. Sadly, I don't think he's got the gravitas to pull off antlers. Maybe goat horns?

(And he's working on green coconuts because the island his character is on probably out of the other type. Maybe he's just going to try attaching them to an unladen swallow? *gratuitous Monty Python reference for the day? Done*)

I think the question "what does God look like" is meaningless. As we all know, to describe God is to limit God and God is limitless. To some Christians God is an omnipotent being living up in the sky with long flowing white whiskers, who is invisible. To Muslims God cannot be portrayed, and to Jews the true name of God can never be spoken. Mabey God looks like the highest concept that one can think, according to his or her evolution as a human. We are all prisms reflecting the white light into the particular color that we are able to see. Some see God in the eyes of others, or in a rainbow, or in the images that the Hubble space telescope gathers. Your idea of what God looks like is just as valid as anyone elses.

I'd say he looks like an ordinary man who's been beaten nearly to death - then executed.
I suppose you're speaking of Jesus Christ. Do you think He still looks beaten to death today? I believe He exists now as a glorified, celestial, immortal being and not as He looked at the time of His death.

Zechariah 12:10 - speaking of the return of Christ to set up His millennial kingdom - ...AND THEY SHALL LOOK UPON ME WHOM THEY HAVE PIERCED, AND THEY SHALL MOURN...

There's a trivia question among us Christians today: what is the only man-made thing in Heaven today? Answer: the nail scars in Jesus' hands.

Since I believe in the trinity, I will describe what I believe God the Father to look like.

1. Can't be viewed with the human eye, because he's so awesome and magnificent.
2. Once in heaven, my imagination says he will be a bright shining light that will light the universe, but not like the Sun (ie. not a light that can burn like the Sun).
3. The Face of God would probably be Stern and Kind at the same time.
4. His face would show that he has infinitely wisdom
5. Physically, I would expect a long grey beard, since he is as old as time.
6. I would think he would have to be undiscribably gigantic since he created the universe.

That being said, who really knows.

I don't think a physical form is inferior to a non-physical form. I think it really doesn't matter what form God or Goddess choose to take on. Thier Gods, so they can take on any form they want to.

Malus 12:9

Temporarily Deactive.
I don't think God has an appearance, but is more a "spiritual awareness" inside all those who believ him.

Well of course, he could look like:
