But what is the problem with people who do like it? That would be a great statue for a public space.
All I can say is dust1n totally crawled into my mind, plucked out my thoughts on the matter, articulated it better than I ever could, and then struck a pose (Vogue).

The same has been said about literature, but I think people are forgetting that we live in a remarkable time of mass production. A lot of the great architecture from way back when was commissioned by the state or church with ravished sums; it was meant to elicit awe from the general population in support of the leaders. There was no time for niches or the individual. Everything else was lost or destroyed or censored or built over. And where went all those old stories? The ancient Greeks prior to the rise of Athenian democracy didn't just learn the Odyssey and Iliad. We've recovered fragments of the story retold in Pluratch's time, but we'll probably never touch on the immerse oral mythology that existed. We'll never hear about the bedtime stories told in Argos to tired children.
A lot of modern art "sucks" because a lot of art exists. The average Borders or Barnes and Noble contains more books than existed in small principalities. And back "then" it was a choice between European theology, philosophy, or heralding epics. Now you can order online any book that exists in the WORLD. Of course more crap exists.

Ninety percent of everything is crud.
What really turned me around about modern music is movie scores, Alien & Aliens in particular. It was a whole new way of listening.
