As their name shows, Jehovahs witnesses are witnesses for Jehovah.who is Jehovah? Jehovah is the name that AlmightyGod gives to himself in the pages of the bible .It is a personalname, not a title like God or Lord. in a general sense, throughout history anyone who witnesses to Gods glory could be called a witness of Jehovah.....Exodus3;13,15.....Isaiah 43;10so the bible, when listing a long line of faithful men of old starting with Abel, calls them ....so great a cloud of witnesses .....Hebrews 11;4 ..12;1 out standing individuals ,such as Noah, Abraham,Isaac, Jacob, Joseph,Moses, and David, are listed as Gods witnesses.......witnesses of Jehovah.Jesus christ is called the faithful and true witness...revelation 3;14 so that is what Jehovahs witnesses are ,they witness for Jehovahand make known the truth about Jehovah and his son Jesus christ But some people have called Jehovahs witnesses christian propagandists,a new christian cult, a christian sect influenced by Judaism,or fanatics who reject medical treatment,Actually, the witnesses are none of these things.why do some people think such things about them ?mostly because those people have been given wrong information.....................what ever the cost,Jehovahs witnesses adhere closely to the bible, they have not invented a new religion.they merely follow what is written in the Torah, the psalms and the Gospel. which is the foundation of true religion. what then do they believe,?they do not believe in the trinity, nor the immortal soul, they do believein the resurrection hope.they do not believe in hellfire, nor do they believe in fate, they do not believe in a clergy class, also they shun idolatry, they do not need idols.they are neutral in politics.they do their best to keep high moral standards in their teachings .we believe that very soon daniel 2;44 will be fullfilledwith the appoaching end of this world.we try to please God ,inline with the Torah, the psalms, and the Gospel. No individual is born a witness of Jehovah. Every single witness makes a personal decision.so the question is have you been mis informed?

can i ask a question, how do jehovas witnesses view the papacy?

i know they dont follow the pope because then they would be roman catholic and not JW's, but do you follow a similar structure or do you believe in the iniversal priesthood

im just curious, i dotn know much about JW's other than some came to my door a few times, i invited them in for coffee and a chat about luke's gospel and they nearly fainted (sorry, but they did lol) but i didnt quite see eye to eye with their interpritation

but im affraid JW's are a branch of christianity that i ahve as of yet, failed to research

is this a thread for open questions about jehovas witnesses?

thanks in advance

our leader is Jesus christ , he is the head of the congregations everyone dedicated to God is equal in his eyes. true worshipers are all brothers and sisters God did not appoint an elevated clergy class. Jesus said everyone that exalts himself will be humiliated, but he that humbles himself will be exalted....luke 18;14 God will judge adversely those who through religion elevate themselves over others ...matthew 23 ;4-12..... now i am curious to know why you think the witnesses nearly fainted when talking about lukes gospel :) or do you think i will regret asking that question....LOL i really started this thread to clear up misconceptions about the JW as mentioned above . mind you , there are many opposers out there who will no dought spam the thread ,that is normally what happens .still those who really want to know the truth will no dought be drawn by Jehovah God to seek out the truth.

i think they fainted because i was at teh time wearing my long black trench coat, and most the young people on my street (it was mid day on a school inset day - so only the young people were around) are pagan ........ and if that didnt scare them, i also carry a small king james in my pocket, they nearly fainted a second time;)

no i do hope this does not get filled with spam, as i think there are a lot of misconceptions about JW's, i know i stereotype them, and i would like to clear some of those stereotypes up aswell

the main thing i think about JW's though is that they have a completely different translation of the bible to almost every other christian group - is this just codswollop, or is there some truth to this - in honesty i dont have a clue :)

The only Jehova's witnesses I have ever spoken to properly I actually invited into my home; not because of what they were preaching - but because they were French students! - which is, of course, perhaps a bad reflection on me, and my judgementalism.

I have no Idea why J.W's have such a reputation - the only way, I must admit, that I see it is that if they feel the need to 'cold-call' repeatedly, to me, that is an indication that they do not have enough parishioners, and if they need to 'drum up' support, there must be something not 'quite right' about their beliefs.

Of course I can see that that attitude is a trifle superficial, and that I have fallen into the same 'trap' - of compartmentalizing. Having said that - I never buy from a door to door salesman either; anyone who asks me to sign on the dotted line there and then immediately makes my hackles rise with suspicion - That comes out of sheer experience though.:)

LOL i promise i will not faint if i see a trench coat, my nephew wears a very long black leather trench coat and i think it is quite nice ,also my other nephew is a pagan and is marrying a pagan, they are having the pagan ceremony and all of the clothes will be in medieval theme and we are going to the wedding .we meet alsorts in the door to door work from all sorts of faiths . if you keep a king james bible in your pocket you will see that psalm 83;18 tells us that God has a name . yes people do say that our bible is different all i can say to that is check it out ,that is the only way that you can know for sure if it is an accurate translation .but all bibles are worth looking into i know i look at many translations .i dont think the fact that you carry a bible would scare the JW more likely they would think it was great.:)

yes i can understand why you would react in the way that you do ,if you believe that JW are coming round to get their numbers up. but that is not the reason that we call round ,the reason is because Jesus said that the Good news about the kingdom would have to be told before the end of the system arrived .so the aim is to inform everyone that Gods kingdom goverment is going to take over rulership of the earth, and everyone has to know this before God steps into the affairs of mankind . bible prophecy is well along into its final stage And the bible tells us that God will not step in untill the goodnews of the kingdom has been preached to Gods satisfaction
And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come...matthew 24;14

(Daniel 2:44) "And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;

(Matthew 6:10) Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.

(Matthew 10:7) As YOU go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.’

(Mark 13:10) Also, in all the nations the good news has to be preached first......so dont worry JW are not there to get you to sign on the dotted line that is something an individualwould do for them selves after gaining accurate knowledge about Jehovah God and Jesus christ. the reason JW call from door to door is because this is the way that Jesus taught his followers to do it in his day
while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house...acts 20;20

And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus...acts 5;42yes this is Good news because Jesus is the king of this kingdom

I think the funniest thing about Jehovah's witnesses is that Jesus is Jehovah, as shown time and again in the scriptures.

i think you will find that the witnesses will all have lots of different translations on their book shelves , this aids their understanding and helps them to compare and come to an accurate understanding in their studies .yes we do have our own bible but this does not mean that other translations do not have their merit

thats quite alright;) i had to laugh ,after posting about black trench coats on here the other day . i went out on the door to door work and when i was getting back into my car this chap in a black trench was stood looking at me ,so i couldnt help myself, i just had to go and speak to him about the bible.he was a really nice chap and when i mentioned to him about the earth being brought back to paradise conditions with peaceful conditions on the earth he said that he has a JW friend and he enjoys having bible discussions with him and he would show his friend the little tract that i gave him to look at it was a tract that showed all of scriptures about the bible promise that the earth will be made new. when i saw him i thought of you and your post...lol
And the One seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new." Also, he says: "Write, because these words are faithful and true....rev 21; 5

(2 Peter 3:13) But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell
