Let's Talk about Heaven

So you believe humans only go on the Day of Judgment? What about people who have passed away already? Are they just in limbo?

According to Muslim belief, there is a transition stage till the Day of Judgment called (Barzakh)

The souls of people who have passed away wait in this transition phase till the start of the Day of Judgment

Extremists and fanatics are found in all faiths, Evan, and the absence of a unified authority among Muslims is part of the main problem we have today

The right answers are usually found among moderates who represent the mainstream, not the small minority on the fringe

It is God who judges and decides who will go to Heaven and who won't, but each single human being has a place reserved for them in Heaven.

God by His Mercy wants all mankind to be in Heaven, but at the same time He knows that some/many people will choose the other path by their own free will

That is probably the most honest and straight forward answer I have ever got from someone of the Islamic Faith - Thank You, You do yourself and your faith a service with such frank honesty. I have met several and seen many who, in their extremism, will not acknowledge such rifts unwittingly widening the gap. Rifts can and do exist among the members of any faith including my own wherein ignorance of ones own professed dogma is the offending culprit.

Do you mean by "choose the other path" choosing evil or choosing another religion?

Does that mean atheism or does it include polytheism, or any path that rejects the Islamic conception of divinity whom you as Muslims call Allah?

Both atheism and polytheism, and all beliefs which are not pure Monotheism

The belief in the One and only Creator and Sustainer of the universe is God's Guidance which He conveyed to mankind through all of His prophets, from Adam and Noah to Abraham, Jesus and Muhammad, peace be upon them all

Does that include Monism?

What do you define as "Pure monotheism"?

Most importantly: why? Why do you believe that only those who adhere to 'pure monotheism' and believe in all of these prophets go to a Paradisal Heaven with lots of sex, to constantly worship a deity who makes you forget about your loved ones who lived previously who are now being tortured in flames?

Cordoba: Unless you are prepared to defend these unsupported bald allegations, you need to say, "I believe..." in front of these statements. They are not statements of fact; they are statements of your religious belief. Did you want to debate them?

Where, physically, is Heaven?

I don't have an answer to that question

What we know from the Qur'an is that our universe is currently inside seven layers of "skies".

When this world ends, according to the Muslim faith, we will be resurected in the Hereafter and will find a new universe, a new "earth" and new "skies", which includes Heaven.

I have a genuine question for cordoba or any other Muslim who cares to answer.

in the Quran it says that Allah will guide whom he wills, and some people he even leads astray putting a shield over their eyes and heart. It then goes on to say how those people will be punished in Hell. If he is the one who put a shield on their eyes\heart preventing them from seeing the truth, how is it fair for them to be punished?

If I have something wrong Please correct me, I'm asking a genuine question. :)

The shield or cover on the heart mentioned in the Qur'an is only for those who intentionally insist on choosing the path of disbelief

It does not apply to people with an open mind who are on a journey searching for the Truth on whether God exists or not, and the proof is that millions of people go from being agnostics to being believers

God is Fair and Just, and He would not make us accountable if we did not have free will to choose between belief and disbelief.

He knows our intentions and He judges us on that basis

These are great questions.

No, I see much injustice, war, and cruelty prevailing in our world because of following anachronistic dogmas, and anthropomorphic concepts of gods.

Loving your neighbor is an anchronism? Somehow that kind of view fits in better with the world you describe.

Christianity conquered the world not by loving their neighbors, but by conquering them, enslaving them, and converting them. that is the world's history.

God created us for His Mercy, and has reserved a place for each one of us in Paradise

When this life ends and the human soul returns to its Creator, life does not end, according to the Muslim faith

Life continues, and on the Day of Judgment, those who are accepted and forgiven by God will enter Paradise

They advance in groups towards the gates of heaven and are welcomed by angels who open the gates ...

I have seen that nowhere in the Bible or the Qu'ran.

Having a reservation isn't the same thing as showing up for dinner. Many are called but few are chosen.

This is not the same Paradise that Jesus spoke of. Jesus used Paradise as a description of Heaven but at the Judgement people enter the New Jerusalem which later descends to a new earth.

Heaven has no gates. The gates are on the wall of the New Jerusalem. There are twelve of them made of pearl. There are twelve angels, one for each gate.

You can love your neighbor but that is no guarantee that your neighbor will love you. That is even more true of people who have not yet learned the concept. Christian missionaries were often killed in unfriendly lands. Charlmagne conquered with the view that missionaries would not be harmed and the result was the pacification of a warlike people. Originally Islam progressed in the same way. If people wished to be at peace, Muslims were at peace with them. That doesn't mean that every Christian or Muslim leader has acted nobly. Sometimes people are corrupted by power, greed and pride. However that is not because the precept was bad but because people didn't practice it.
