The Verichip can either be implanted in your arm, you can wear it sort of like a watch, or attach it to a personal item so you can retrieve from theft. Now if the Verichip will be mandatory within the next five years, I bet that people will be hearing on the news the same amount of stories on murder (wich currently fills up like 40% of my local news channels, and the rest is garbage about celebrities and pro sports) as we will about people whose Verichips were stolen from their hands (the wearable kind). These stories will go on for a while (i am guessing until 2012) and then bam! Mandatory implantation for all.
As for this being the mark of the beast, it is possible, since it can (and/or most likely will) hold your personal information such as credit cards, and your current location. So the mastermind of all this will know where we are at all times. Now in Revelation 13:17, it states "No one could buy or sell unless he had this mark, that is, the beast's name or the number that stands for the name." So if somehow cash became obsolete, and we were all using credit, then we know the answer, because you can't buy or sell in this scenario without a Verichip.
I bet people reading this are thinking "What the hell? There will never be a day when cash renders useless and we all live off credit (or possibly a point system, where for example, you work 8 hours for 15 bucks an hour, and your employer zaps the money in your chip). Well, i never thought there would be a day when VHS would be taken over by DVDs, but DVDs are more convenient and slowly but surely took over VHS. When was the last time anyone rented a VHS from their local video store ( even my budget school uses DVDs now)? The same thing with credit, you are safe from thieves, so getting jumped for money will be useless. This chip will give us a sense of security and people will fall in love with this idea. You can literally carry your life savings around with no worries.
I guess people are wandering "how is this going to represent 666 (or 616), or the beasts name, and my answer is i don't know, but I believe i have made a valid point on the economics of the issue, so when we find out who the anti-christ is, I bet we can tie his name up somehow with this.
Also, who says he isn't here yet?
