I put other because they all make sense and they all work, so it wouldn't be right to choose only one. I just take my favourite ideas from each, but my philosiphy is probably more Setian than anything else. I'd also like to say that this thread has shown me that I'm not too alone on RF, but you all need to post more, I feel.

I wish I really understood the difference.

left hand path? right hand path?
I follow my own path, but is it one of the two?
This was discussed in another thread some time ago but the difference is the Left hand Path focuses on the self and its preservation, the Right Hand Path focuses on salvation by means of someone else through self sacrifice.

I practice Setian, Satanic, and Luciferian philosophy and Magic. I also explore Thelema, Chaos magic, and the philosophies of P.D. Ouspensky and Gurdjieff. I refer to myself as an independent Satanist/Sorcerer or Follower of the Left-Hand Path as I have no interest at this time in joining any kind of organized LHP group. I am my own Dark Temple.

Gnostic Luciferian here. My beliefs are syncretic and include aspects of Gnostic Christianity, Hinduism, Thelema, Neoplatonism, and alchemical views derived from various occult circles.

Two things before I get to LHP/RHP, I don't know about some of you but the words "worship" and "belief" sort of bother me. I've had people ask me why I "worship" the devil? After straitening out the "devil" thing, I explained to them that I don't worship the Lord of Darkness in the sense of a slave to a master. I honor Him/It as a Brother and kindred Spirit. My relationship with the Dark One is that of a great Teacher to a very willing student.

Secondly, I don't "believe" in the Dark Lord. Belief requires faith in something your not absolutely in your heart of hearts exists or is true. I've been a practicioner of the Black Arts for over 20 years and I've seen and experienced a lot of insane stuff, and I have personally experienced the Presence of the Dark Lord, thus, I am "convinced" of His/It's existence.

I know the debate over LHP/RHP has been discussed on another forum, but I would like to put my two cents in here. Realize, these are just the basics.

Left-Hand Path= Rational Self-interest, individuality, freedom of mind and will, pride in Being, Self-reliance and deification.

Right-Hand Path= Selflessness, subserviance of the mind and will to that of some higher power, the merging of the Soul with that of the natural order - if we were to invoke the laws of physics, this is an impossibility, or is it? The Soul/Psyche is a non-natural Element from a LHP stand point, however, through aeons of human evolution it has become a natural part of our biological make-up as it has become infused within our DNA. There is no escaping the Dark Gift (Soul), there is no destroying it. One can deny it, but it is still there.
Christians, Jews, Muslims, etc. can deny or attempt to supress it all they want, they are entitled to their beliefs, but their attempts to sublimate the Dark Gift are all in vain.

Having said all that, I do find myself as a LHPather doing RHP deeds such as acts of selflessness for those I love. Sometimes I even forgive those who have done an injustice to me, however, even though I might forgive them, I will never forget.

I would like to suggest an "Exploring" option, although this may fall under "Other". However "Other" seems like more an obligation than one who is "Exploring".

Just a thought.

I've heard it said that altruism is not a part of the LHP. However, IMO, if Lucifer can give up what he had to set man free, then we too can lend a hand to those in need.

Very true. I'm of the opinion that a truly self serving individual should be kind and polite to others without becoming a doormat. Being rude and obnoxious may satisfy immediate desires, but unless there is a valid reason for it, it is ultimately detrimental to one's own interests.
Sometimes, whether we like it or not, we need help from other people and with that in mind, I'd much rather have others see me as a pleasant person rather than a selfish person.

oh yeah... I chose other.

I made this thread about 3 years ago, there's no need to change the options. I set other there just for that reason, there is no 'Obligation' if you chose other and the felt like explaining.

Selected "other" in the survey.

To expound, the ideas I have seen from the ToS and Setian philosophy this is probably the biggest area of interest for myself at the moment.

Over the past 5+ years I have looked into various aspects of Luciferian traditions, Theistic and LaVeyen Satanism, various traditions calling themselves "Dark Paganism", and others. While I do not begrudge anyone for following any of these paths or looking into them what they offer does not correspond to the direction I am searching in.

Interestingly enough my arrival in areas defined as LHP was not through Satanism or the channels it seems one would be inclined to follow to here.

What lead me here was a cataloging of my personal interests, the influence of various schools of philosophical thought (from Nietzsche to Plato and others), psychology (primarily Jungian), working with areas of Ceremonial Magic and the Runic currents. These eventually lead me to looking beyond any path I had hitherto been exposed to and re-exploring others I had in the past, an primarily finding my interest in the writings in the philosophy presented by such Setians as Don Webb, Michel Aquino, Stephen Flowers, and others whom I have corresponded with.

At the moment I am still investigating a few matters of thought when it comes to the ToS before applying.

My best wishes to everyone on their paths and Self-development.

I am an Atheistic Luciferian. At least, that title best fits me.

I say that because it took me many years to distinguish myself as the above. And even after labeling myself, I'm still not sure it's the right label. I'll get it right one day :)

Theistic satanist without an organization. I think theistic satanism best fits my view of the Dark One, although many theistic satanist organizations have gone horribly wrong (for example the Joy of Satan). I don´t have anything against satanist organizations, but one shouldn´t learn about Satan through literature, but find him through own spiritual study. If one feels that an organizations views match, it may be a fitting place.

I have studied the believes of CoS, ToS, Temple of Black Light and various others, but since none really see things as I see them, I have no interest in them. Following something that doesn´t completely fit one´s believes is taking the RHP.
