And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
1Ti*2:15
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Both verses 8 and 9 of 1 Timothy 2 contain the words written by Paul - "I want" or in the King James version the same sense is conveyed by "I will therefore" and "In like manner also"

Paul is speaking for himself - it is his ideas and not those of Jesus.

SOGFPP,
You must live in a closed environment if you don't know and understand the issues
that chrisianity has with catholocism so let me give ya a little peek:

priests can't marry which violates the command as given by the apostle timothy:

1Ti*3:1
¶ This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
1Ti*3:2
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
1Ti*3:3
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
1Ti*3:4
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
1Ti*3:5
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

1Ti*3:12
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

no wonder our children are not safe with some of the priests.

the church says that they can forgive sins in CHRISTS stead but that is not so, we can only forgive those sins that are against us personally as we are directed by the bible

Lu*11:4
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Mt*18:21
¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Mt*18:22
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Mt*18:35
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

it is obvious by this next verses the method approved by GOD for asking forgiveness of sin:

Mr*11:24
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mr*11:25
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

and here is the method of pray he wants:

Lu*11:2
And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Lu*11:3
Give us day by day our daily bread.
Lu*11:4
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

The church also was involved with the changing of the sabbath from saturday to sunday with no backing by the bible whatsoever and its not denied by them :

The Convert's Catechism of Catholic Doctrine

By Rev. Peter Geiermann, C. SS. R.B.
Herder Book Co. Saint Louis, Mo. 1946

3. THE THIRD COMMANDMENT.

Q. What is the Third Commandment?
A. The Third Commandment is: Remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day.

Q. Which is the Sabbath day?
A. Saturday is the Sabbath day.

Q. Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
A. We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.

Q. Why did the Catholic Church substitute Sunday for Saturday?
A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday, because Christ rose from the dead on a Sunday and the Holy Ghost descended upon the Apostles on a Sunday.

Q. By what authority did the church substitute Sunday for Saturday?
A. The Church substituted Sunday for Saturday by the plenitude of that divine power which Jesus Christ bestowed upon her.

Q. What does the Third Commandment command?
A. The Third Commandment commands, us to sanctify Sunday as the Lord's Day.

and there is literally tons more that can be said on this subject

Paul is speaking for himself - it is his ideas and not those of Jesus.

so you say that he is in fact not inspired by the holy ghost?
then this must also be false:

2Ti*3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti*3:17
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

your attribution of the biblical verse to Timothy as the writer is misplaced

correct, seems I am not yet above imperfection no matter how much I say I am

While this is off topic, your attribution of the biblical verse to Timothy as the writer is misplaced. Paul is supossed to have written (there are some scholars who feel it was not Paul but some un-named writer) TO Timothy.

But your words do make a good case against the "revelations" of the Roman Catholic Church

Well it seems as if the true colors of this "open" forum are coming to light.

I think if women want to hold office in the catholic church they have every right to do so, since the church delights in breaking every other rule of GOD then why not that one?
How long will this forum tolerate this kind of rude and argumentative behavior?

Are only pagans and UU treated with any respect here?

The Catholic Church is and always has been nothing more than a political tool. It was created to subugate the growing Christian demographic.

ADMIN AND MODS WHY ARE YOU NOT HELPING ME?

These statements would not be permitted if they were directed at athiests or UU................... what is going on here?

Peace in Christ,

This thread will remain locked the reminder of the day so tempers can cool down. I will reopen it tomorrow. In the meantime, I am reminding everyone that all posts must remain on the topic of the OP. So if you want to debate the validity of the Catholic church, please start another thread. Any further posts that are not on the topic of the OP will be deleted and I will not hesitate to lock this thread again for good.

Please be mindful of forum etiquette, back up the statements you make with facts, and be polite but also remember that the Debate forums are loosely moderated and you should be prepared to have your religion, beliefs and ideas attacked and questioned here. Also, just because someone has a negative opinion about a subject does NOT mean that the negative opinion must be censored. We only censor negative comments when they attack others personally, are too short and meaningless, or contain profanity.

If you have any questions about anything I've said, please feel free to PM me or another Moderator.

It's entirely up to the members of the church, women included. If you all don't like it ,change it.:p

Not being Catholic, it's neither here nor there to me whether there are women ordained as priests or not.
If you're catholic and you have a problem with the lack of women priests, then you need to decide whether it's enough to make you leave the church or whether you can just suck it up and live with it.

Keep in mind that the distinctive roles of men and women are tied to creation. At no time has God authorized women to be over men whether in the social realm, the secular realm, the home, or the religious realm. This is due to at least four factors: (1) The order of creation: man created first; (2) the manner of creation: the man created from the dust of the earth; the woman created from man;
(3) the purpose of creation: man was created to be the image and glory of God; the woman to be the glory of the man; (4) the place in creation: woman was create for the man and not the man for the woman. The only reason these questions are bing asked today about women being "priest",Bible teachers to mixed groups that include men, preachers, elders, deacons, ect. is because most have ignored God's creation laws. When Paul made his statements in I Timothy 2:8-15 and I Corinthians 11:1-12, he tied his arguments to creation. That preceeds culture and "the day of political correctness."

I voted no opinion....no educated opinion so no point in throwing in my uneducated one.....but to educate us in Catholic ways.....what are the qualifations to becoming a priest specifically, and including the gender differences what are the reasons woman are not given acceess to priest hood. I ask because it is hard to debate this withouth knowing the ins and outs of the arguement......

I also voted 'no opinion', because I am not a Catholic. I do know the reason why the Catholic church will not ordain women priests - Scott made the point quite clear in a previous thread, quoting the official Church stance.

As I am not a Catholic, my own personal wies are redundant.:)
