But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." - I Corinthians ii. 9,10.

PART QUOTE].............." ill go with what a priest told me once,it means heaven.".................

2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
(The reference comes from Isaiah 64:4, but Paul has interpreted "waiteth for him" as "love him." The glories of "the new heavens and the new earth" (Isaiah 66:22) are beyond human imagination, for they are being "prepared" for us by Christ Himself (John 14:2,3).)
2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Some of these heavenly glories have, indeed, been revealed to us through the Apostle John (Revelation 21,22).:)

Peace,
possibly something like: We cannot see the kingdom of heaven with our physical bodies and senses, we have to experience it with our spirit. Our spirits can search all things, the deep things of God while our physical bodies go nowhere at all and see/hear not with the eyes and ears.

. Paul’s words apply to those with little or no spirituality. Their eye cannot see, or discern, spiritual truths, and their ear cannot hear, or understand, such things. Knowledge of the things that God has prepared for those who love him does not even enter into the hearts of such men. But to those who are dedicated to God, as Paul was, God has revealed these things through his spirit

I would say it might help to read it in context:

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9 But as it is written °, Eye hath not seen, nor ° ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

God's wisdom refered to in verse 7 is his plan for salvation. This was his own eternal secret that no one else could fathom, but in this new age of salvation he has graciously revealed it to us. Verses 9 & 10 (as Deut correctly pointed out) is taken from Isaiah.... and I believe that Paul uses this as an example of how the "new age" has changed things: God was "hidden", but is now "revealed" in Christ.

Just because two people are the same faith doesn't mean they always interpret things exactly the same...

The Church does not have a verse by verse "definition" of the Bible.... some verses have many interpretations and can mean different things to different individual Catholics...
but for the record, salvation and heaven are not too far off... ;)

I agree with both Scott and your pastor.

But then we have some heaven here on earth. :D

Heaven is being in the presence of God. The closer we are to God through Jesus, the more of his divine nature is revealed to us right here, and right now.

Here a translation in laymans terms, maybe this will help clarify the message. 1 Corinthians 2: 7-12

7 God's wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don't find it lying around on the surface. It's not the latest message, but more like the oldest - what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. 8 The experts of our day haven't a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn't have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross. 9 That's why we have this Scripture text: No one's ever seen or heard anything like this, Never so much as imagined anything quite like it - What God has arranged for those who love him. 10 But you've seen and heard it because God by his Spirit has brought it all out into the open before you. 11 Who ever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God - except that he not only knows what he's thinking, 12 but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us.

Hi, Here is another thought for you, We can not imagine all that God has in store for us both in this life or in Eternity. He will create a new Heaven and a new Earth [ Isa 65:17 Rev 21:1 ] and we will live with Him forever, until then His Holy Spirit comforts and Guides us knowing the wonderful and eternal future that awaits us, gives us hope and courage to press on in this life, to endure hardship and to avoid giving in to temptation. This world is not all there is, The best is yet to come. Gods deep secrets, refferes to Gods unfanthomable nature and wonderful plan, Jesus death and ressurection and to the promise of salvation, revealed only to those who believe what God says is true. Those who believe in Christs death and resurrection and put their faith in Him will know all they need to know to be saved. However This knowlege, Can't be grasped by even the wisest people, unless they except Gods message. All those who reject Gods Message are foolish, no matter how wise the world thinks they are..These thoughts are taken from the Life application study Bible. Im being lazy today :D Hope they are helpful to you.
