Yes, I believe in Guardian Angels. It's a pretty central baptismal belief of the Orthodox Church. We pray to them (not really to, you understand, that's just short-hand) in our daily prayers and believe that everyone is sent an angel to watch over them when they are baptised. As to what they are, exactly what you'd expect, angels that are sent to watch over you.

I was going to say that my understanding of guardian angels is different from the Christian view, but I guess it is just the name that is different - I call them 'the spirits'; I believe we may have more than one.

In my case they must work on shift duty; I keep them busy!:biglaugh:

Who are our Guardian Angels?
No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come near your tent, for to His Angels God has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways. Upon their hands they will bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Psalm 91: 10-12 A heavenly spirit assigned by God to watch over each of us during our lives. The doctrine of angels is part of the Church's tradition. The role of the guardian angel is both to guide us to good thoughts, works and words, and to preserve us from evil. Since the 17th century the Church has celebrated a feast honoring them in October throughout the Universal Church. Since the last calendar revision this feast is Oct 2.

He has charged His angels with the ministry of watching and safeguarding every one of His creatures that behold not His face. Kingdoms have their angels assigned to them, and men have their angels; these latter it is to whom religion designates the Holy Guardian Angels. Our Lord says in the Gospel, "Beware lest ye scandalize any of these little ones, for their angels in heaven see the face of My Father." The existence of Guardian Angels, is, hence a dogma of the Christian faith: this being so, what ought not our respect be for that sure and holy intelligence that is ever present at our side; and how great our solicitude be, lest, by any act of ours, we offend those eyes which are ever bent upon us in all our ways!

Thats great! I have always believed in Guardian angels.but I have never heard them mentioned in the Church of England. Though lots of Beliefs have been put on the back burner over the years.
I have also thought that they may be souls of those you may have known. assigned as Guardian Angels. Though why we should need them With the Trinity looking out for us I don't quite know.
Saints seem to look after you to, in my earlier years a little known Carmelite Saint , St. Simon Stock seemed to be looking after me. I think he just likes helping people.

well I'm not a christian, but certainly christianity isn't the only religion that believes in guardian spirits watching over you. It's pretty universal, especially the spiritualism of people in ancient times compared to the rationalism of today, any Anthropologist will tell you that.

I have the exact same belief that most christians here have said, except I replace "God" with "gods" because I don't believe in an all-powerful Being. The higher gods send a guardian spirit (sometimes more than one) to every person, which then becomes ones "personal god." Guardian spirits aren't just there to guide and protect us throughout life, I also believe they are our psychopomp who guides us into the next life and stands up for the goodness we've done for others. In this way they stand as a divine witness for our destiny. This definately shows in so many religions that God in Heaven, or in my case, the Celestial gods in Heaven surely do care for us.

I do believe that :)

I have saw things that I contributed with 'guardian angels' when I was a child growing up in a strict Pentecostal setting. I believe in them. Though it seems absurd to me now in a way, as I have grown up and have my own views. I just don't like walking around all alone, lol, after believing in them for so long growing up. I guess my answer,
is YES.

Not exactly Guardian Angels but I believe in Guiding Spirits. These are physical or spiritual entities that sort of nudge you in your decided direction. When you consider the amount of humans that actually die we can only assume that if there were Guardian Angels they either fell asleep on the job or they weren't paying attention to us during a shift change.

Guardian Angels are members of your soul group that are in spirit. Sometimes they come to us in physical form, like a stranger that helps you or a stray dog that makes you laugh, or maybe a butterfly fluttering around your head trying to remind you of natures beauty.

Guardian Angels or Spirit Guides can be relatives, like grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and siblings that have passed away. If you have a child pass away, they always become a Guardian Angel or Spirit Guide to you. Close friends or someone that you've been a caretaker to can also become a Guardian Angel or Spirit Guide.

I disagree. Those can be construed as "guides" per se, but physical beings are not spirit guides. Even if the spirit guide "guides" you by way of a physical form, the thing that "guides" you is still not your spirit guide. And not all children that pass away become spirit guides. Actually, hardly any do. (This is of course based on my own personal experiences with the spirits. Believe them or not, they are indeed my own opinion)

I guess you are right in that if the spirit is carnate, it is no longer a spirit guide, or guardian angel, but is now a soul mate, or animal guide. Does this sound right? And I believe we are surrounded by angels at any given moment, can you see guardian angels, or spirit guides of others?

I believe in spiritual guides. Some of them help me make desicions, while others help keep me from some forms of harm, while some help make some situations a bit easier.

There is spiritual in all of us.

Some angels are flesh and blood. That's the bottom line. God told us to serve each other.

From www.dictionary.com:

Guardian angel

Guardian \Guard"i*an\, a. Performing, or appropriate to, the office of a protector; as, a guardian care.

That sounds right.

Well, since spirits are everywhere... yes we are constantly surrounded by them. I can smell and feel them. I only had the privelidge to see them on that awesome night of my 16th birthday. Oh how I wish I could see them once more. :) But I never saw any "people with wings." That concept is simply just a human fabrication.

I once had a lengthy conversation with a benedictine monk about the nature of the spirits and angels. And he told me that angels are simply mediaries between us and god. There is no real "shape or form" to them. Only what one "thinks" it is.
