congratulations ron68, you just made the most rediculously funny topic of all time.

"J" sickness LMAO

But you have become lost in the wonderful dream world of Egotistical Dogma! You have no idea where the title "Allah" comes from do you. It comes from the title "Illah," but was changed into Allah for the name of the Islamic Creator God. Illah was the original Arabic name for God with the tribes of pre-Islamic Arabs. Illah is related to the Canaanite El, and Babylonian Anu, God of Heaven. He had no relation to the Judeo-Christian God. Sorry to say, this God has a direct origin going back into pre-history, but Islam blended Illah with Yahweh to create their great Allah, and was to unite both Pagans, Christians, and Jews in the new Islamic Syncretism. That was the actual mission of Muhammad. Unfortunately, he didn't preserve too many ethical concerns for how Muslims treat those who didn't want to convert.

In short: Muhammad stole both our near eastern Pagan God of Heaven, and our Judeo-Christian God of Creation, according to historical FACT. But Allah is neither Yahweh nor is he Illah. The god of Islam no longer has any heresay about what we near eastern Pagans, Jews, and Christians worship. We choose to preserve our great God of Heaven the way our tradition understands him, free from Islam. :)

Why the fascination with names? If you had any common sense you would know that God cannot have a name, only created beings can be named - by their creator. God has no need for a name.

Plus, its Yeshua -> Jesus, not Yesus. And the J thing is to do with pronounciation and translation - not that it really matters in the slightest.

Seems to me you're being caught up in the most trivial aspects of religion.

hmm, well couldn't "God" name himself? :)

I know Judaism at least believes their God has an "eternal name" in YHVH, but it cannot be pronounced, understood, or said....

The first gods in my tradition, their names are phrases that represent them, like "heaven," "exalted lady," "lord earth," etc...They kinda just named each other I guess lol

There's a reason names exist, and that is so we can distinguish between people and other objects when talking about them. In a pantheon of Gods they would have names as they would need to be able to address each other. But a single God has no need of a name as It need not distinguish Itself from other Gods.

Men can give God a name if they so wish, but it will not be the name God was given at Its creation, because God was not created - if It did have a name it would mean something else had created It and named It.

God could name Itself, but what would be the point - Its identity is God? It is 'The One', 'He who is called I Am', 'The Source of all things'.

If you believe in manifestations of God, then the manifestations can have names as they need to be distinguished from one another and from the Source God.

People can call God; Allah, Jehovah, Elohim, Yahweh, Brahman etc, but these are man-given names, not of God.

Temporarily Deactive.
Besides, calling Him "God" would basically be a lot simpler, and prevent (or
should I say limit) such questions as these :)

well Jesus thought it was important for us to know Gods name

Then he said to them: "Whenever YOU pray, say, ‘Father, let YOUR NAME be sanctified. Let your kingdom come......luke 11;2

But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time for the dead to be judged, and to give [their] reward to your slaves the prophets and to the holy ones and to those fearing YOUR NAME the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth......REV 11;18......Also

I have come in the NAME of my Father, but you do not receive me; if someone else arrived in his own name, you would receive that one.....john 5;43

Jesus answered them: "I told you and yet you do not believe. The works that I am doing in the NAME of my Father, these bear witness about me....john 10;25

"I have made your NAME manifest to the men you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. .....john17;6

And I have made your NAME known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them...JOHN 17;26

That people may know that you, whose name is Jehovah,You alone are the Most High over all the earth......PSALM 83;18

Two small points. You do realise that to 'do something in the name of' has absolutely nothing to do with personal names don't you? If I were to bash on your door and say 'open up in the name of the law' would you understand that I were talking about somebody called 'The Law', or would you understand that I was there representing the legal authorities of the land? I'd hope the latter. Coming in the name of the Father, then, is coming representing the Father and it would be irrelevant whether said Father had a name or not.

Secondly, and this was missing from the original post, do you know where the vowels in Jehovah come from? If you did then you'd have a hard time positing that this is the true name of God. The teragrammaton, as rightly explained, is in Hebrew but has no vowels. The vowels in Jehovah come from the Greek word Adonai, Lord, being superimposed on YHWH so as to make it pronounceable. If indeed God does have a personal name, neither Jews nor Christians know how to say it and your Anglicised Hellenised Hebrew is a very improbable candidate. Personally, I'll just stick with God and Father.

It is my humble opinion, and NOT supported by any scripture that I am aware of, that God does not need a name. He trancends any attempt to pigeonhole him with any moniker.

However, humans have an inherent need for names so that they can organise and codify what they think they believe in.

in order that those who remain of the men may earnestly seek Jehovah, together with people of all the nations, people who are called by my NAME, says Jehovah, who is doing these things...............(Acts 15;17)called by my name ,i think a name is important how can he take out a people for his name if no one knows it .its a good job that his named people are in line with the scriptures as they should be

. The prophecy of Amos 9:11, 12, as quoted by the disciple James, says: "‘All the nations upon whom my NAME has been called,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, who is doing this

And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the NAME of his Father written on their foreheads(rev 14;1)

‘And I shall certainly sanctify my great name, which was being profaned among the nations, which YOU profaned in the midst of them; and the nations will have to know that I am Jehovah,’ is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘when I am sanctified among you before their eyes

"‘The one that conquers—I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will by no means go out [from it] anymore, and I will write upon him the NAME of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which descends out of heaven from my God, and that new name of mine(rev 3;12)

YOU are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that YOU may know and have faith in me, and that YOU may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. I—I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior."

"I myself have told forth and have saved and have caused [it] to be heard, when there was among YOU no strange [god]. So YOU are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "and I am God(isaiah 43; 10-12) And he proceeded to save them for the sake of his NAME so as to make his mightiness known(psalm 106;8)
