Austin is SO MUCH FUN! You would fit in great.

The scary thing is, I also fit in great.

Austin has something for everyone.

In fact, Texas is an amazing state. I love it here now, though it took me about two years not to actually intensely HATE living in Texas. I love the diversity, the richness of culture (Hispanic, black, German, French, Czech, "cowboy," oilfield, etc.)

White people are the minority here, and that's an interesting experience in itself, for a white girl.

The food is great, some of the best in the world.

Arts/music scene - incredibly diverse and exciting!

The general attitude of the people, regardless of race or creed, is independent and strong.

The energy in Texas is palpable.

You're really lucky.

I HATE it here in NJ. :(

Do you live in Austin Kathryn?
(no need to reply if it's too personal for net interaction)

No, I don't live in Austin - I live about four hours away. But we go there several times a year. In fact, we spent part of our honeymoon there. Now this was funny: We went down to Sixth Street (of COURSE) one night on our honeymoon. Keep in mind that at the time, I was 45 and my husband was 50. We had a rather large time, till, oh about 3 am. Good thing we walked down there from the hotel. Anyway, the next morning (or rather, noon), I woke up all sideways and upside down in the bed, and totally tangled in the sheets. My husband rolled over and groaned and said, "Last night I woke up naked and on the floor. Now THAT'S what I call a honeymoon!"

Good ol' Sixth Street!
