Umm... well, pretty much nothing. I'd say some UUs believe in angels, but the majority probably do not.

Could you please tell me what the UUs are, I don't believe I've heard of it. Do you mean it's a choice with that religion to believe in them or not?

Purity,

We Orthodox Christians (we are commonly known as Eastern Orthodox in the west, though we don't usually refer to ourselves that way, and include the Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox and Romanian Orthodox churches, amongst others) do believe in angels. Many people have Archangels as patron saints - wy wife's is Gabriel for instance - and we believe that everyone has a Guardian Angel who we ask to watch over us in our daily prayers. For a much better description of the Church's teachings on angels than I can possibly provide, you might be interested to read the following:

I hope that helps.

Unitarian Universalist. I mean that we are not told what to believe about angels. Some UUs believe they exist, some do not. We have a lot of choice in what to believe.

Thank you very much for that reading. I do however have a question for you. Where does that leave us. The one's filled with love and joy sound like angels and those of us filled with pride and stubbourness sound light Saitin. For he was an angel and had fallen and when he did he grew with pride and stubbourness and therefore he feels he has no need to repent. If I have pride and stubbourness in me what does that mean of me?

I'm willing to 'go with' angels - or at least something much like them; I don't call them angels though.:)

Thank you for clearing that up for me. That's very interesting that your religion gives you so many chioces and your not told what you have to believe in.

Baha'i
Angels I think in my Faith (Baha'i Faith) are pure souls who have been alive and passed on... We believe pure souls after death can intercede for us in prayer to God. So the "Cloud of Witnesses"- like saints who have gone before us- mentioned in the Bible is called the "Supreme Concourse" in our Writings are able to assist us.

From the Baha'i Writings:

"Array yourselves in the perfection of divine virtues. I hope you may be quickened and vivified by the breaths of the Holy Spirit. Then shall ye indeed become the angels of heaven whom Christ promised would appear in this Day to gather the harvest of divine planting. This is my hope. This is my prayer for you."

How do you know who your Guardian Angel is?

I don't have a religion so I can't relate there, however the views on angels that I find most interesting are in the writings of the Book of Enoch.......I believe Deut. 32.8 mentioned this earlier. Here's a link to an online copy of the book if you are interested further:http://reluctant-messenger.com/enoch.htm

You don't if by that you mean know their name. We believe that every Christian is nsent an angel by God to watch over them, but we aren't told what their name is. But how many Angels' (not Archangels) names do we know? I can't think of one. We pray completely anonymous prayers to them like the following:
Holy Guardian Angel, do not depart from me, a sinner, or allow me to be overcome by the enemy. Give strength to my weak hand and set me on the path of salvation. Forgive me when I offend you and protect me in the coming day, that I may not anger God by sinning. Pray to God for me that I may come to fear Him and become a servant worthy of His great kindness.

Amen
Don't RCs have the same sort of beliefs? If not, it will be another, albeit minor, example of the many differences between our two faiths that I didn't know about until recently. I'd be surprised, though, if that were true as it's such an important belief for many normal lay people.

So here it is straight from the horse's mouth. Er..by horse, I mean Baha'u'llah.

By "angels" is meant those who, reinforced by the power of the spirit, have consumed, with the fire of the love of God, all human traits and limitations, and have clothed themselves with the attributes of the most exalted Beings and of the Cherubim.
(Baha'u'llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 78)
