Greetings to All:

"The Sun is Rising in the West" is a series of programs broadcasted by IslamiTV on the Islamicity web site.

http://www.islamicity.com/islamitv/default.asp

The programs introduce the personal stories of new Muslims in the West and how they found Islam, based on a book with the same title.

There are two episodes on-line so far on the site.

The first introduces the story of Angela Collins, the presenter of the programme who came to Islam in November 2001.

The second episode is an interview with Betty Bowman, the co-author of a book with the same title. She is an Amrerican Muslim lady who came to Islam 10 years ago, after reading many books on different faiths and finally on Sufism and Islam. It's a very interesting interview, as she has done quite a lot of reading, including 12 different English translations of the Qur'an.

In due course, Islamicity will add other interviews on how and why new Muslims chose Islam, their day-to-day problems and the reactions of their families and friends.

Why are more Americans accepting Islam?

This is a question the programme will try to answer.

All the best.

Greetings to All:

The fourth episode of the Sun is Rising in the West has just gone on-line on the Islamicity web site.

http://www.islamicity.com/islamitv/default.asp?

The new interview is with Joe from Southern California. She explains how her life changed when she found Islam. Her grandfather was a priest, and since a young age she used to attend his sermons, which made her a spriritual person.

She also studied many other religions, till she finally studied Islam and became Muslim. The interview also deals with the Nation of Islam, Orthodox Islam and their impact on African Americans.

Travel abroad helped her see Islam in a different and more positive way.

On a trip to Spain and Portugal, she also visited Morocco. One day she heard the call to prayers which was so beautiful, it went straight into her heart. It wasn't at first an intellectual change, but something from within.

She also saw in the middle of the desert a car stopping to one side, and a man come out with his prayer mat and starting to pray in the open air.

She decided when back in the US she would study Islam, because what she saw during her travel was totally different from what she had always learned about the religion.

Interesting how travel broadens horizons, and gives us a better understanding of the world.

All the best.
