Jehovah's Witnesses.... freeing people from the misconceptions of the world

I personally think the JW are some of the most dedicated of the Christians. Even though they believe that only 144,000 are going to Heaven. It is a sin to celebrate birthdays, or have a beer, they still go door to door, literally, on foot, door-to-door, spreading the word of God. Now that is dedication to a cause.

Sorry about the insult. i get annoyed at people claiming this and that and say stuff that they heard about witnesses etc...
anyhoo, that's a good observation, we are didicated. worldwide, we spent over a billion hours last year speaking to people about the bible. with regards to the beer thing, where did you hear that from? someone said to me that we don't eat cookies, don't drink tea and coffe, don't take headache tablets, don't drink coke, don't go to the doctors, don't believe in Jesus, said we're dangerous, get paid for what we do, etc...we can drink alcohol, it's getting drunk that's the bad bit. I drink regularly (Not get, drunk regularly, before anyone starts). My favorite is Kronenberg or Stella Artois if i fancy it!
and in a nutshell, 144000 go to heaven and rule from heaven over the earth (let thy kingdom come etc...), the rest live on earth being ruled by the 144000 and Jesus after armageddon. i can't bothered writting more on the subject. there's too much... if you want to know more about what we believe, read our publications and compare what we say to the scriptures. and pleeeeeese, don't say you heard stuff about us and make it look like were nutters sitting in dark rooms playing guitar and eating mayonaise!
thanks for the interest tho.
:bonk:

I am very glad you have shed a new light on this for me. My limited exposure to the religion has obviously shadowed the truth.

I have a friend who is JW. Apparently, their church is using heavy scare tactics and is not the norm. Her husband was banned from the church after they discovered that he occassionally had a beer while he was watching football. And they were very specific in teaching that 144000 would be saved, all else will go to hell.

Your new explaination of what is taught in your church makes more of a win-win situation, or at least leaves some shred of hope. The earth will be a new earth. Heaven on earth. This is much closer to the truth as I have come to know it through my own assessments of the clues bestowed upon us.

These limitations to life experience that is bestowed upon the JW appears very similar to the restrictions put upon the Jews. All I can say is I'm glad God lets me have coffee.:D

But I am not going to say you are wrong. You are like the heart, you have a very exausting job to do. And you will of course have differnent guidlines, just as the heart cells follow different rules than the skin cells.

I have one question,
don't believe in Jesus,
does this mean don't believe he ever existed or don't believe he is a deity?

I'm glad i make a bit of sense...just to say tho, we don't say that all others will go to hell. we stick to the bible. hell isn't real, not in the sense people have of it today. it's a translation of the word sheol or hades even, meaning grave. some bible write hell, some hades, some sheol, some whatever...

Also, i doubt that he was disfellowshipped for 'occassionally' having a beer. there are elders who 'occasionally' have a beer. Like i said, i have a drink, most weekends even, and have drank with and infront of elders and others, whilst watching rugby, and no one said anything... so there must be more to that particullar case that would justify disfellowshipping. it is always the very last option, if a person isn't sorry or repentant. :)

We believe he existed (as in back then, with all the roman trouble and stuff) and still does (as in now, in heaven) and that he is God's son, second in command, sat next to him, but not God himself, cos that's who Jehovah is, sat next to jesus. please don't ask me to explain that one again, i've posted a missive reply on the trinity somewhere else in this site. good question tho. :)

Hello, I hope you won't mind me jumping in here but either I am tired (it's late here)and maybe my brain not in gear but... " Enhanced spirit," when "This should makes sense "said that someone had said to him that Jehovah's Witnesses do not eat cookies, drink tea or coffee etc etc. Your reply seemed to me as if you had misunderstood. "This should make sense" was saying that JW do all of those things(if they want to) But then to confuse me even more,"This should make sense" you didn't correct "Enhanced Spirit" Oops, now everyone is probably more confused than before.

Just jumping in here to make a point about the 144,000 , or those left over actually . Isn't it believed that those who don't quite make it to heaven return to Eden recreated on Earth ? Or perhaps that has already been said ? { I haven't read the whole thread }.

ES , there are several things that I personally don't agree with about the JW faith { disfollowship for one } , but it is an interesting system . Other then the Watchtower Society , there is little dictating a dogma , leaving each Hall to control theirselves . That and conventions . Every much like early Christianity I would think .

Oh Help, can anyone else see what I am trying to say. (probably not lol)
Ok I will try again.
Another example.... "EnhancedSpirit" quoted from your post "Thishouldmakesense" his quote was "don't believe in Jesus" and he went on to say "does this mean don't believe he ever existed or don't believe he is a deity? " Now my question is,is he asking you this because he thinks you don't believe in Jesus? Oh dear I wish I could explain myself better. I must seem like areal crazy women.

Actually , I was wondering about that too Suzy . But I was too lazy to go back and try to figure it out . ;) Well that , and I have heard this debate before ....

Beats me ? ;) As I said , I haven't gone back to read the whole thread . But I was wondering if the question relates to believing in Jesus , or believing in Jesus being God ? I know your reply , just wondering where the statement was coming from . Not sure if that is what Suzy was getting at or not ? My above post was more to let Suzy know that she wasn't alone in being a little lost . Carry on . :)

Ok, here I am again. It wasn't that I was questioning what you"ThisShouldMakeSense" believes. I don't need to because as a Jehovah's Witness myself I believe the same as you do.

I was just under the impression that "InhancedSpirit" had misunderstood you and that even after your explanation, he still thought that you/we don't eat cookies, drink tea or coffee and more importantly he gave me the impression that he thought you/we don't believe in Jesus.

I am sorry if I misunderstood and I didn't mean to mess up the thread. (Suzy closes door quietly behind her while zipping up her mouth)

Here is where the confusion started. I realize now that TSMS was saying that these are assumptions other people make about the JW. I was confused because half of those things are true. I misunderstood what was being said. But it has been made perfectly clear that JW do believe in Jesus.
