Do you find nudity offensive?

I do not have any problem with the human body. It can be a very beautiful thing, even for the old and obese, which is why I prefer figure drawing to still lifes/etc in my art.

Clothes are necessary in todays society. Especially as protection from germs. *shudders* ...germs... :drink:

Great topic, though I'm not sure you've covered everything.

Toplessness may have some Biblical authority. Didn't Jesus say that if someone demands your coat, you should give them the shirt off your back, as well?

Though I never did get the part where Adam and Eve ate the fruit, noticed they were naked, and were ashamed. Why would they feel that way? There wasn't anyone else there to make them feel inadequate or incorrect.

Is there a dress code in the 10 Commandments?

I realize that nudity offends some people, I just don't happen to be one of them. Clothes, at many times, can be uncomfortable and restricting. Yet <sigh> I respect the wishes of others, and keep it in the house and back yard. Gotta love those privacy fences.

Even the government is pretty tolerant of this behavior, when you consider the photos they have of your backyard from space (with resolution that can read license plates).

More seriously, isn't it odd how many people want to see nudity, but have dreams where they are naked and feel mortified?

The tease in fashion is glimpses or hints of what's underneath, images in movies and advertising "sell" us, pique the interest of consumers, while deeply offending Muslim clerics (and the religious right in Christian nations).

All over what? The urge to procreate, curiousity about what the opposite sex looks like? Or does it all go back to "sinful" nakedness? Freedom versus Breaking the Rules?

So that's where they get all the adult sites.

I just don't find myself a very shy person. I was born naked in this world, and I'll probably die that way too.

Was it not God himself that permitted Adam and Eve to be naked? Did he also not be angered by the Serpent when it told Adam/Eve that they were naked and then made them ashamed of once being nude?

I remember living in Germany when I was a child and seeing nudity everywhere....you get so used to it that it becomes more natural and acceptable, and you really don't think about it. I believe that there are two things that keep us from being able to walk around nude, the Christian Church, and the porn industry. Both profit from our laws against it.

Covering is best for the body. Sun does damage to the skin and we wouldn't want to freeze in the winter. I prefer the mystery of hidden treasures.
Covered in sunscreen outside and warmed inside. But perhaps the mystery is a sexual attraction which has nudity as only one facet. Nudity, of and by itself, has little context - in my mind

I don't think there's anything wrong with nudity.
I do agree that if someone just walked down the street naked, it might cause problems. It's not the naked person's fault, though. It's not my fault that breasts have become so sexualized. Why should I have to cover up just because some people don't like it?
Not that I actually do run around naked (except in Finland, where naked sauna-to-lake jumping was totally normal).

I read a long time ago that it specifically states somewhere in the Constitution that women and men are to be treated fairly under the law in all circumstances....which means that if men can walk around, mow their laws, and play basketball without shirts, so can I! It's almost enough to make me go walk around my neighborhood topless right now, just so I can stick it to the police when they try to pick me up. And by 'pick up', I hopefully mean 'take to jail'. I'm sure that would all go over well. ;)
