Shouldn't Nudity be Encouraged?

Depends Upon My Mood..
That's nice, Dallas, but studies consistently show that nudists have better body-images than non-nudists. Especially, female nudists.

O.K...but as I said they could have started out with no problem with body image to start with. And nudity enhanced it.

IOW it wouldnt surprise me that nudist have "better body images"They had a better body image than non nudist before they went nude ..is all Im saying.

I understand that's what you're saying. You and I disagree on that. We disagree because my experience of nudists contradicts your theory about nudists.

Lets put it this way..women(in particualr) who already are secure in their body image are MORE likely to take it all off than women who arent secure.

So it wouldnt surprise me that nudist have a better body image.Even if its better than the one they already had.

I do not believe for one second that someone who has a terrible body image can have a better body image than someone who never did (have a body image problem)who wears clothes..

How many nudists do you know, Dallas?

Baggins is a nudist. He wears sweaters in the winter though, but the reason is more practical than anything. He's just a little baby, and he gets cold.

Morally and ethically I have no issue with nudity. Aesthetically is another story.

I agree ..I really prefer not to see everyones nooks and crannys..Im just thinking about buying yogurt in the grocery store and the guy in front of me is leaning over to pick his out and I see the little tiny pieces of toilet paper stuck in his behiny crack. And guys walking around with stiffies..nursing women who are leaking with milk running down..I could go on..But I personally do not want to have to see that.

Restoration of everything
Since several studies have found that nudists have better body images than non-nudists, shouldn't nudity be encouraged as a counter to the fashion and entertainment industry's demeaning body propaganda?

Perhaps nudists already have the propensity to have a good body image... hence the fact that they are in a nudist colony? If more people went around naked, wouldn't that present the problem of comparison, and given that men are very visually oriented wouldn't that also create problems and distractions? If this concept was enforced today, nobody would be ready for it (except for maybe you : ) ) and I don't think body image problems lie with people's actual bodies. I believe it goes much deeper than simple aesthetics.

There are people who do not wash their clothes very often and wear the same stained clothing week after week. By your logic, that would be sufficient reason to get rid of clothes.

I profoundly doubt that. From what I've seen nudity improves body images.

What you are saying here seems to ignore the fact that people's in some parts of the world do indeed go around naked. They don't seem to have the problems you are describing in the Amazon. On what grounds do you suppose the rest of us are inferior in dealing with nudity to Amazonians?
