I'm back!
ive read the da vinci code. its facinating, ill say.

has anyone else read it? It sparked my intrest in a lot of things like the divine feminine and PHI and symbolism in da vinci's work.

it holds many theories about the holy grail and chalice.

does anyone have any thoughts?

I, too, loved the book. I was not surprised that, although the characters and general story are ficticious, a lot of the ideas and representations are factual. Just another example of Christianity's hypocritical and overpowering attitude towards the masses.

I also found it amusing that, right after the book became popular, a number of religious gurus took advantage of the publicity, and wrote books with similar titles that aimed to prove Dan Brown's theories incorrect. Those clergy sure know how to 'ride the wave.'

Looking forward to the movie. They havn't started filming yet, but it should be in theatres in 2005.

I really liked the book. I don't know how much is factual and what is fiction, but I did like the way he drew on real theories and ideas for the book. Anyone read Dan Brown's Angels and Demons? Is it good too?

I've read both The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. I thought they were both very good, but yes--you've gotta wonder about how much of it is truly factual. Darn...I guess I'll just have to travel to Europe to see for myself...(haha, yeah right!)

I've read it, but found that it read like a poor ripoff of Umberto Eco's Faucault's Pendulum. This is not to say that The Da Vinci Code was in any way inspired by Eco's book... it just didn't seem as good.

it was a good book but dan brown takes some facts and then adds in some of his conclusions so you really don't know how much of the book is truth and what he draws

Why didn't you put the option haven't read it? Then you can start distributing his book to us. :)
