How do you feel about the Gobekli Tepe theory?

I must admit that the Gobekly Tepe theory seems to "have more going for it" - Thanks for the find; why I never saw your post is because, as usual, I was in a hurry and missed your post!

In another thread, there is talk of where the Garden of Eden was - Geographically.

I saw my doctor rececently, who, during his conversation with me, reminded me that the human race stemmed originally from Africa.

(That may - or not - be accurate), but, if it is, would that not indicate that the Garden of Eden was in Africa?

Obviously a place where Apple trees and Pythons coexist. I can't think of any.

The fruit was never identified as an apple in the Bible. That's just how it is traditionally depicted. If we wanted to get technical, it was probably a fig (if it was an actual fruit in an actual garden at all, and not just a metaphor.)

From:-http://www.inspiredwoods.com/bible_wood_apple.php

The Apple tree is mentioned in Song of Solomon 2:3 and Joel 1:12 as a garden plant. However, the Apple mentioned in the Bible is thought by some to be different than the fruit we now know by that name. The Apple of the Bible was probably the Apricot, which is common in Palestine. http://www.inspiredwoods.com/bible_wood_apple.php#more

a part quote

Why the apple? Well, many other fruits are suggested, including the tomato! In ancient lore the apple had various meanings and were a tempting love fruit with possible sexual overtones.

So I guess we'll never know....

There's an interesting video called 'Lost History-Finding Atlantis' on youtube that makes a good attempt at resolving the mystery of Atlantis and The Garden of Eden in 8 minutes.

It's all a sick freaking joke.

I personally believe Eden was a dimensional pocket or a entirely different dimension in itself. I believe the door way to Eden, which is sealed off from us, is somewhere in Africa or the Middle East (possible around Israel to be specific).

My thought is that the apple signifies the fruits of agriculture - which started mankind on the road to civilization, but left behind the simpler hunter-gathering lifestyle.
