IIRC, Ratzinger had been a close advisor to John Paul II for many years. My guess would be we won't see a radical policy shift.

It's my impression that the new pope and the old pope are in agreement on every issue across the board. Is this correct?

I think it's appropriate. People were talking about the ability of a Latin American or African Pope to evangelize these developing areas, but the more difficult evangelical mission will probably be in developed countries like Western Europe and America. Benedict speaks fluent English, German, and French. I am very interested to see some of his theological writings, I hear they are excellent.

I was in the backyard entertaining some guests at lunch when the Catholic churches bells (it's across the street) drowned out our conversations, lol. I said, "They must have a new Pope!"

may HaShem bless this new Pope and help him to continue John Paul II's noble work:162:
Amen to that.... in his youth, Benedict was forced to be a member of the Nazi youth and the Army before he deserted.

He should have quite a unique perspective on Jewish/Christian relations.

Very true..... but it's hard to tell how the See of Peter will change a man..... the Holy Spirit puts some powerful "mojo";) on the Pope.
