Tired of being called a sinner?

I'm honest and that's not obvious to me.
Yes, I somehow have missed the fact that there is so much sin and I am honest too.

What mark are we missing, though? What were we "created to be"?
I'm sure we have all missed the point from time to time, but like mball says, what specific point are we missing and who has the authority to figure that out?

There are some people who do some harmful things. I do things that harm myself or others sometimes, but not very often. I don't recognize any of it as sin, and there isn't as much of it as you seem to think there is. You here more about the murders and thefts, etc. because that's what makes good news. There are still a whole lot of good people doing good things, though.
I don't see people as bad. I agree that their behaviors are at times lacking in goodness, but to me there is a difference. Sin has been defined as an archery term (Greek I think).

Exactly..If they changed the "news" to every act of kindness done in a day.Every good and loving action done in any given day..
Every choice made to "do the right thing" in a day by the majority of people???First of all there wouldnt be enough time to announce it in a day each and every day..2nd of all that wouldnt keep people paralyzed in fear and following along like drones.

Good point!!

Although I enjoy others opinions of me and my work I have been alive long enough to know when it is a false complement or false lie.

Being labeled a sinner is just false lie. They have no legitimit responce for you so they just call you a sinner. That applies to 4 letter words, murderer, baby killer, something like infantilist which for my opinions on certain religious taboo's I have been called. I actually feel sorry for the person calling me the name. They are making a statement about who they are not who I am.

I'm wondering if you are a bitter and empty person who has no clue as to whether their life will be judged and how it will stand scrutiny if it is. Actually I'm only wondering about part of that.

Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the slogan, we are sinners and we must repent or be sent to hell for eternity.
Once you understand its symbolic influence, it's possible (likely, even) to embrace it wholeheartedly (as Levayan Satanism does).

In my opinion, the notion of sin is as outdated as the flat earth notion. Both notions seem to be early, primitive attempts to explain certain observations. Both notions are deeply flawed.

Where did you get that definition?
sin (n.) O.E. synn "moral wrongdoing, offense against God, misdeed," from P.Gmc. *sundjo (cf. O.S. sundia, O.Fris. sende, M.Du. sonde, Ger. Sünde "sin, transgression, trespass, offense"), probably ult. "true" (cf. Goth. sonjis, O.N. sannr "true"), from PIE *es-ont-, prp. of base *es- "to be" (see is). The semantic development is via notion of "to be truly the one (who is guilty)," as in O.N. phrase verð sannr at "be found guilty of," and the use of the phrase "it is being" in Hittite confessional formula. The same process probably yielded the L. word sons (gen. sontis) "guilty, criminal" from prp. of sum, esse "to be, that which is." Some etymologists believe the Gmc. word was an early borrowing directly from the L. genitive. Sin-eater is attested from 1686. To live in sin "cohabit without marriage" is from 1838. Ice hockey slang sin bin "penalty box" is attested from 1950.

sin (v.) O.E. syngian "to commit sin," from synn (see sin (n.)). Cf. Du. zondigen, Ger. sündigen. Form alt. from M.E. sunigen by influence of the noun.

Iwas referring to the Greek word 'hamartia' used in the New Testament big boy

Maybe I'm just having a bad day, but I am really getting tired of being labelled a sinner just because I don't believe in religions definition of God. Is it just me or is anyone else tired of the slogan, we are sinners and we must repent or be sent to hell for eternity. Why do people believe this stuff and why do they think it's alright to tell others this stuff too. Don't they see how hurtful and condescending this is? Sorry, but I'm really tired of the label my family and others give me and other's like me. Usually I'm pretty upbeat about it and let it slide off my back, but today it's getting to me a lot.

its not just non-Christians that are sinners, everyone on earth is a sinner. Through Jesus Christ we can be cleansed of our sin however. We are still sinners and will always be sinners but through repenting and belief in Him you can be cleansed of your sin. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 However because of Christ's ultimate sacrifice we can be saved from our sin. "while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8

No, I get it too. Like it's one thing for them to try to convert us (even though I still find that a bit rude), but it is not right at all to tell people they are sinners. It is just like insulting them, and it is definitely not the way to convert people.

It is disrespectful. But as others have said on this thread I could learn how to be proud to be called a sinner, because at least I'm not stooping to their level.

And you'd probably spit in the face of the doctor that told you you had Aids, too. Why don't you get real? We all sin and you know it. Yes you do. Deep inside you know it's true. Fact is if you're married, I could ask your spouse if you're a sinner! If you're not married, I could probably ask a former flame. I'm not the least bit impressed!

1) Why would anyone care about impressing you?
2) How do you know what he'd do in that situation?
3) Why are you arguing like "yeah, you do! Yuhuh! You do!"
4) Why do you feel the need to call people sinners?

In YOUR world everyone is a sinner perhaps.

In MY world I am a good and loving person doing the best I can
in largely hostile surroundings..... to be TRUE to MySelf....
while also doing the best I can for those around me.

In my world YOU are a sinner IF that is what YOU choose to be.
It really is not my business to try and convince you otherwise.
If that's what you KNOW you are...
I would only be wasting my time anyway.

Here's what you don't (won't) get, Know the Truth; the issue isn't whether or not we're all sinners. the issue is; do you have the right to point the finger at someone else and say "sinner".

You're not the doctor.

You're just another sick shmuck like the rest of us. And if you have some obsessive need to point out other people's lack of perfection, it most likely indicates that your disease is more advanced than most.

Your God created sin just so he could save you from them. Nothing like punishing someone else for what you created. :clap

I think it was mankind who created sin or you could say Satan or satanic desires by humans.
Didn't Jesus say, "There is no such thing as sin but you created it by....."

I would have to say I agree that it is man who decided we were all sinners. When we couldn't understand the various disasters, trials, and suffering we faced in life, we decided we were being punished for something. Eventually this became a cultural understanding and sin became a power button for those who wanted to control. Sadly, many have decided that is what God thinks we are. I wish I could change that for people. Let them know they are just fine and they are loved.
