The volume of the animal is just the first consideration. Do we have a height of each of the three decks? Do we have an estimate of the "husbandry" space required to keep each animal alvie? Do we have an estimate of the space humans require to directly provide the husbandry?

Do we in fact have a volumetric measurement of the ark? length x width x decks - DECKS? What are the storage requirements for the food these animals consume. How do the number of humans aboard remove all the waste produced by the number of animals. Where are the animals that carnivores must eat?

The reference is naive!!!

They were all vegetarian of course pah, don't you know anything! ;)
(That's actually in the kinds theory)

Also, the animals all looked after themselves and had pleasant tea parties while Noah 'got busy' with his female relatives - hey, the Earth had to be repopulated somehow, does explain the sheer number of idiots in the world though - inbreeding.

I wanna share this kinda neat theory about dinosaurs that my teacher told me. I think it makes alot of sense. remember im not sayings it historical fact i just thought it was a neat view of dinosaurs.

O first off i wanna mention to those who dont believe dinosaurs exist (i guess you would have to ignore the giant bones archeologists have found...), and are christians, the leviathan, a dinosaur/really big ancient reptile, is mentioned in the bible (Isaiah 27:1 and Job 41).

ok back to my thing:

Dinosaurs did exist at one time and the reason that they were so big (obviously they were because we have fossils) was because reptiles continue growing as long as they live. And before the flood, man and animals lived hundreds of years. So these reptiles grew pretty darn big. But when the flood came and Noah had to put the animals in the ark, of course hes not gonna pick big mama dinosaur, hes gonna get the little babies. After the flood, people and animals did not live near as long. So the reptiles did not get near as big but were probably a good source of food and over time became extinct, similar to how the buffulo is almost extinct because it was the american indians main source of food.

Well thats just something neat i thought so i wanted to share it. Of course it doesnt do you much good as a theory unless you believe in what the bible says and Noah's story. But i had always wondering how things happened with dinosaurs and i thought this was a decent explanation.

K lol thx for reading!

ya hes a philosophy major but teachs bible class so its really awesome what we learn. Alot of philosophers come to the conclusion that God exists because of the logical reasoning and evidence, so instead of getting "the bible is the only truth" We get "theres truth outside of the bible, heres what it is..." Alot more helpful when talking to nonchristians and those who dont believe in the bible

Dinosaurs aren't even considered to be reptiles (seriously, look it up). Not to mention Noah couldn't have put them on any ark, because Noah hadn't evolved yet (or, rofl, if he had, he hadn't shown up in the fossil record yet  ).

However, yanking this thing more on topic... although I do not believe in the Bible, I don't think that Creationism and Evolution HAVE to be mutually exclusive... so long as one is looking at the Bible as a metaphorical piece of literature rather than interpreting it literally. Perhaps the Christian God created all life on this planet using the mechanism of evolution... just as (if he exists) He is apparently using other natural processes to create other things in the world (pressure, melting, and cooling to create rocks, etc).

k well obviously my little explanation wont work for you lol :) because it is based on the biblical story of noah who didnt "evolve" but it for those who do believe the bible is historically accurate and were looking for a suggestion about the dinosaurs

heres a few definitions i found from one search... they do seem the be refered to as reptiles
Definitions of DINOSAUR on the Web:
  • Dinosaurs were land-dwelling reptiles that walked with an erect stance during the Mesozoic Era. Their unique hip structure caused their legs to stick out from under their bodies, and not sprawl out from the side (like other reptiles). They are extinct. DOGFISH SHARK Dogfish are the most common shark. They congregate in schools and migrate. They range in size from tiny to enormous and are found worldwide. DOLPHIN Dolphins are small cetaceans that have a long, beaklike snout, a falcate (sickle-shaped) dorsal fin, and conical teeth. They are Odontoceti (toothed whales).

  • Any reptile of the subclass Archosauria distinguished from other reptiles especially by features of the pelvic bones. Dinosaurs were carnivorous or herbivorous, bipedal or quadrupedal, land-dwelling, and of moderate to very large size. Range, Triassic to Cretaceous.
    museum.gov.ns.ca/fossils/glossary.htm

  • One of a large group of reptiles that lived millions of years ago. All dinosaurs lived on land.

  • Mesozoic terrestrial animal with an erect gait

  • Now extinct, land-dwelling reptiles of the Mesozoic Era. The name means “terrible lizard”.

Actually it was white settlers which hunted the bison into near extinction, the native americans lived in harmony with it.

Dinosaurs are reptiles o_O. Just a different type than what we have living today.
Yes, except they were warm blooded, some had feathers, some could fly and many walked around on two legs.

...that's what I meant by saying 'different types [of reptiles] than we have today.' They're still reptiles, but we don't have any extant representatives of them.

I'm not sure where in the Bible it says this. Please elucidate.

Technically the earth could be the center of the universe as well as the end of your nose. The math is much easier if we make the sun the center of the solar system though.
The Bible does not say "The Earth is the center of the universe" but it does imply that in several different places. It was interpreted that way. In the same way can the creation story be interpreted two different ways...after all, a thousand years is like a day to God... It also gives a date for the creation of the world, which was a few dozen million years off :D

Haha... actually, I'm suddenly not sure where the heck I got the idea that dinosaurs are not reptiles. I vaguely recall once looking at some kind of chart on evolution showing how reptiles and dinosaurs had a common ancestor but branched off into two different groups... however, I must have been wrong in what I saw, because when I tried to find some resources proving my point, I couldn't find anything! (Oops!) :bonk: Which I guess goes to show that one cannot always even trust what they believe to be "scientific knowledge"... because there is a good chance their memory could misrepresent such "knowledge" in rather... humorous ways.

However, dinosaurs being or not being reptiles aside, I know for a FACT that not every person following an Abrahamic religion believes that because the Bible/Koran neglects to mention dinosaurs they don't exist. If the Bible/Koran listed the creation of EVERY SINGLE creature on this planet, it would be very long indeed! And although I myself believe in evolution, I recognize that for some people the one-time existence of dinosaurs is no more proof of evolution than is the existence of humans.

Well, Canicus - you have every right to believe in whatever you want to believe in, but I'll tell you a little secret:- I believe in God, and I believe in evolution !

Prima, what verse gives the date of the creation?

The bible explains that the first heavens and earths created became void and without form due to a massive war, afterwards God cleaned things up a bit. Anyways, curious to where this "date" is located at. I've never interpreted any verses that said the earth was the center of the universe but I wouldn't deny it until we have the complete measurements of the universe.

There isn't a verse that gives the date of creation. What people do is trace back time using the geneologies listed in the Bible. That gives dates ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 years ago as the date of creation.

That would still only give the time since Adam and Eve were made, not the universe and planets and the creatures that lived before Adam.
