Not trying to take this thread off topic so please forgive me with this off topic statement:

The Torah is a blessing and a curse. The Torah was not meant for the righteous.

If there be need to discuss this further then lets make a thread pertaining to such and leave this thread to the Topic at hand. :)
I would like some elaboration on this... and here's why you can do it here... Moshiach is to bring an era of righteousness, which Tanach describes as a time when all Jews are following the Torah...

So how can it be said that the Torah was not meant for the righteous? Such a thought is disturbing to me, and I would like some clarification.

The notion that "The Torah was not meant for the righteous"... that doesn't sound like a Jewish thing to say at all.

I would like to side with Poisonshady on this, I'd like to see your justification on that statement. I honestly don't see how you come to that conclusion. Though, actually, I'd say it should be in a different thread, dedicated to that discussion and not to Mashiach.

I agree with Elessar. If you would like you can start a thread in the discussion of individual religions under Abrahamic religions and we can discuss it. Just let me know.

I agree. Our whole purpose here is the perfection of our souls and the law is our road map to that perfection. Whenever I see anything about the law being a curse it's almost always connected to christian theology. One of the reasons I love Tehillim so much is that it gives so many snap shots of Jewish theology outside of the context of the books that list the mitzvot. Tehillim 119...

1. Praiseworthy are those whose way is perfect, who walk with the law of the Lord.

2. Praiseworthy are those who keep His testimonies; who seek Him wholeheartedly.

3. Not only have they committed no injustice, they walked in His ways.

4. You commanded Your precepts, to keep diligently.

5. My prayers are that my ways should be established, to keep Your statutes.

6. Then I shall not be ashamed when I look at all Your commandments.

7. I shall thank You with an upright heart when I learn the judgments of Your righteousness.

8. I shall keep Your statutes; do not forsake me utterly.

Yeah, what a curse that is.
