Israel Offers Gaza Aid Corridor

Israel has agreed to set up a "humanitarian corridor" in the Gaza Strip, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has said.

Israel's military will open up "areas for limited periods of time, during which the population will be able to receive the aid", it said.

The office said the goal was to "prevent a humanitarian crisis".

That is civilised behaviour and I hope it benefits those most vulnerable. Would Hamas offer Israelis the same if the shoe was on the other foot?

I'm certain that the shoe will never be in their foot...Hamas would never blockade an israelian town for 6 months causing a humanetarian crisis over there and afterwards begin air strikes that kill 660 civilians (up to the moment)!

This is sickness, and Hamas (regardless how terrorists they are, as they claim) is not as sick as the IDF..

Anyways, lets hope for better conditions there for everyone

Yes, it is a nice gesture. Still, it seems odd to blow people to smithereens and then offer a hand to help them up.

I can't take sides with this issue other than the shelling needs to stop. Israel is going overboard now if you ask me for my 2 cents worth of thoughts.

The point is that Israel is not there to kill the civilian populace and of course the aid isn't for the people they are there to kill. So it isn't odd. It is proper.

And by the way, it is great to see you about again, Buttercup. :)

How many of the over 600 dead are Hamas though?

A civilised response from civilised people. I think given Hamas' radical military stance they would watch the "jews" starve and laugh all the way. My reasoning is in history their suicide bomber attacks on buses and crowded areas. This is evidence to me that they couldn't care less about Israel. I just hope that the aid reaches people who need it, and not the scum that call themselves Muslims who fire rockets into Israel.

Where the aid is from is not specified, and you can ask the poor Muslims how they feel about the matter as they stock up on supplies.

On a side note, not everyone in Gaza is Muslim.

no need to ask Gazan anything. they have nothing.

all i see is dead or wounded Muslims. who else is there? there might be some Christians but i doubt there are people from other religions like Buddhists or Jews or Hindus...Gaza is not that cosmopolite.

And how can we know this? Are the Palestinian occupying Israel?
This is a mandate of the UN, the occupying forces must help non-combatant victims of military action such bombings of densely populated areas.

Thank you for posting this. Let us see who the true humanitarians are:

Israel has provided free healthcare, food, water, and infrastructure to people who are not even its citizens, some of which who want to push the "Jews" into the Sea.

In return, the Muslim world shouts even louder to "kill all Jews" and "wipe Israel off the Map".

It is about time that they allowed some kind of aid into Gaza. The hospitals are running out of supplies, there are food shortages everywhere, and bombs going off everywhere, with no place to go for the population. What Israel is doing is a disgrace to humanity. I think that the fact that we, the United States, are the lone supporter of this incursion into Gaza speaks volumes in and of itself..

Ha! Good try.

Neither side is completely "right". I simply don't see the need to take sides....it's too complicated.

There are immoralities that we ourselves commit and there are immoralities that we commit by seen immoralities been committed and say nothing, neutrality is a bugger of a complicated thing. But I must say that is a good thing to see Israel is following one of the UN directives in relation to occupying forces. Who know maybe they’ll even agree to an international tribunal to put forward their claim for ownership of the land?

Meaningless..

If Hamas (or any arabic/muslim) country was in the same place of power as Israel, it would have never "watch the "jews" starve and laugh all the way"...

Remind me to send u some youtube videos of israeli soldiers enjoying torturing some palestinian civilians, while they are crying for mercy!..
At least you won't find any video for Hamas doing the same!

The fact that the United States is busy with military adventures thousands of miles from home (not a new concept) while Israel is securing its own borders is food for thought.
while the political decision making in Israel may be questionable, plenty of the criticism Israel receives seem to offer little solution for solving the violation of its sovereignty.
